“’Spend It On You’ is a feel-good song all about being young, broke, and in love,” Sonika says, “Whether you’re in love with your significant other, your family, your best friends, or whoever, this song is about wanting to spend it all on that person. It’s not even about money. It’s about giving all of yourself and all of your love to someone. This song is about the kind of love that consumes you. It’s about letting your guard down and surrendering yourself to love.”
Combing elements of pop and R&B, Sonika’s pitch-perfect vocals shine through as a modern and infectious productions carries the song. Personally, Sonika says this song is about the amazing support group she has found.
She shares, “I chose this as my first release because it is an accurate depiction of how I feel now. Being a broke, independent artist in Los Angeles can get you down, but I’ve found love in all the amazing and inspiring people who I’ve come to meet. This song is for them.”
