Theresa Romack – known professionally as “DANiiVORY,” is a seasoned R&B and soul-pop songstress who is currently on the rise as a solo artist. The Nashville-based musician is currently gearing up for the release of her single “Pink Lightning” and Celeb Secrets has your first listen.
Does the name DANiiVORY ring a bell? Well, you may recognize her work and name because she is known for rubbing elbows with A-list celebrities within the industry. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music with a dual degree in Contemporary Writing, Production, and Vocal Performance, she packed her bags and went straight to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.
It was her internship with Tom Hanks’ production company Playtone that made her realize her love for performing. Therefore, she made it her mission to perfect her craft in order to get on stage to flex her remarkable talents. Her passion and unstoppable drive landed her the ultimate dream gig with Beyoncé – yes, the Queen Bey herself!
It was in 2013 when the dynamic artist embarked on the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour and performed with the icon at the 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Doors began to open for DANiiVORY, as she performed alongside Cee-Lo Green on The BBC, The Late Show with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and sang backup for Rhye’s NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series. She even collaborated with Imagine Dragons, Bridgit Mendler, Gallant, and K-Pop group 2NEL.
With the fire burning inside of DANiiVORY and her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, the well-rounded artist made a conscious decision to break through and become a solo vocalist. While keeping a long list of mentors and previous co-workers on speed dial, the artist took a chance and released her debut dance-inspired single “Slippen.” The initial track quickly gained the respect of music-goers, but it was her most recent single “Blackout” that scored a spot in the top 50 Starfleet Crossover music chart.
To continue her successful run as an independent artist, DANiiVORY penned an electronic-pop hit “Pink Lightning” that will bring any playlist to new heights. “This song is about an experience I had with a love interest and letting go of boundaries,” says Dani in an exclusive Celeb Secrets interview about her recent release. “Going outside of your comfort zone and against the grain and everything you know or were taught or told.”
The track showcases her impressive vocal range and state-of-the-art songwriting abilities. In fact, she shared with Celeb Secrets that a good chunk of the song came to her during a long jog and went through several makeovers before it became the outstanding piece it is today. “This song actually went through 4 transformations! And I still have the original demo that I made in my hotel room when I was on tour with Gallant opening up for John Legend,” says the musician about the songwriting and production process. “I remember taking a jog on a Sunday morning because we had an off day somewhere in the pacific northwest. After my jog, I came up with the piano riff and the main melody and words of the song,” she adds.
While listening to “Pink Lightning,” DANiiVORY hopes her fans feel inspired and adventurous to try something new. Oftentimes, people will ask the universe for a sign to push them in the right direction or to encourage them to take a chance and challenge themselves.
