On top of her dazzling bright red ball gown, Angela Bassett from the moving motion picture Soul – gave us an adorable red carpet moment by opening up about her kids.
At the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday, April 25, the acclaimed actress and mother of two was nothing but smiles when reporter Giuliana Rancic asked what her boy/girl teenage twins were up to amid the big event.
During the exclusive interview, Rancic went out on a limb by assuming that Bassett’s 15-year-olds probably aren’t that engaged when it comes to three-hour-long ceremonies— and she guessed right!
“They’re doing teenage stuff,” Bassett revealed while giggling. However, she had to give them major credit for acting as her biggest cheerleaders and support system behind closed doors.
While Bassett was getting ready for the Oscar ceremony, her kids reportedly gave her their full attention. They hyped her up for the stunning red carpet walk with some of the cutest affirmations, like: “Oh Mom, you look great! Have fun!”
Bassett certainly dressed to impress last night and her tremendous efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Her extravagant dress with a red bow-shaped feature in the back has already topped best-dressed lists composed by People, USA Today, Harper’s Bazaar, and many more!
The stunning off-the-shoulder ensemble with a long train and puffy shoulders is a custom design by Italian fashion python Alberta Ferretti.

To glam things up even more, Bassett accessorized with designs by the luxury brand Chopard Jewels.
Aside from strutting down the red carpet with one of the most praised looks of the night, Bassett also got to watch many of her talented co-workers who took home wins for their outstanding creations.
She gracefully applauded her fellow cast and crew while sitting in the star-studded stands when the Disney animation Soul took the win for “Best Score.” Then, she joined the team to accept another major award when Soul scored the title of “Top Animated Feature.”
Although the big award show comes with time limits, Bassett found space to express her immense gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram caption. She wrote, “Congratulations to Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste on winning the Academy Award for “Best Score” for #PixarSoul & congrats to the entire cast and crew on winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature! #Oscars”
