Spencer Ludwig is opening a new chapter of his career today, and we’re super excited for it!
After parting ways with label Warner Bros. Records, Ludwig has been hard at work crafting his sound and making new music. We’re finally getting a taste of that new music with the independent release of his new single “Just Wanna Dance.”
“Just Wanna Dance” is ignited by a funkified falsetto refrain, a dancefloor-ready trumpet hook and irresistible finger snaps, creating a groove that perfectly embodies the song’s title.
“When I wrote the song, I was feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of social media, what it all means and what needs to be done in order to fit in,” Ludwig told Billboard about the recording process. “I want this next phase of music to feel like it cuts right to the core of who I am both lyrically and musically,” he said. “During this chapter I’ve tried to listen less and create more. I didn’t want my influences coming through my music more than my own sound. That said, I’ve found inspiration in other like-minded artists such as Lauv, Julia Michaels, Khalid and Drake to name a few who have been able to uniquely articulate their experiences and feelings into their music in a simple yet sophisticated style of pop.”
Take a listen to the song below and make sure to keep an eye out for new music from Spencer. He says that “fans can expect to see a lot more material a lot more frequently” and will be performing at Bonnaroo this summer.
