SZA‘s S.O.S Tour was a hot ticket this year. Following her incredibly successful 17-city sold out run, the Grammy Award-winning music trendsetter and icon brought the one-of-a-kind show to ten cities in Europe this summer and twenty-one more across North America this fall due to incredible fan demand.
On Saturday (October 28), Las Vegas was transported to SZA’s world when the S.O.S. Tour made its way to the T-Mobile Arena before wrapping the following day, and Celeb Secrets was able to score tickets to the coveted event.
Prior to the four-act journey we were about to embark on, openers Vans and d4vd set the tone of what was to come for the night. Known for his catchy and viral songs on TikTok and Reels, the 18-year-old made sure to perform his most iconic hits as well as songs off his latest EP Petals to Thorns.
The lights finally dimmed and the screens introduced the S.O.S. Tour, unfolding SZA’s story through both stunning visuals and moody music! Mimicking her album cover of the same name, the 34-year-old opened the show with her song “Seek and Destroy” as she sat on a boardwalk looking into a crowd of thousands of roaring fans.
Act I opened with the St. Louis, MO native on a dock, ready to stow away on a ship singing songs from her two full-length studio albums. After enjoying the happiness that came from some of her well-known songs, SZA welcomed the audience with a peak from backstage as she changed outfits and rapped “Smoking On My Ex Pack” before making her way into Act II.
Arriving on a boat with “All The Stars,” Act II displayed visuals just like a night sky while she sang songs like “Prom,” “Normal Girl,” “F2F,” “Drew Barrymore,” and more. Throughout the Act II, night turns to morning and a storm brews ending up destroying the ship — which can be seen as a visual representation of heart ache and grief before heading into an emotional Act III.
The most memorable part of the show came from Act III, when SZA leaped on a lifeboat above the arena to sing emotional songs like “Supermodel,” and “Special.” Representing a a second chance at life and finally ready to start over, SZA admitted she wrote “Nobody Gets Me” about her ex-finance who used to own a trade show in Vegas before belting the heartfelt lyrics to a packed arena.
With “Gone Girl” the last song to close out Act III, Act IV started with an anchor as the background and a slew of upbeat bangers like “SOS,” “Kiss Me More,” “Snooze,” and “Kill Bill.” Very big on hiding Easter eggs in her visuals, fans then saw the water on fire, before quickly changing to a waterfall filled with anger followed by clarity before SZA hit us with “I Hate U” and “The Weekend.”
Bringing the concertgoer back to where she started, SZA returned to the boardwalk for her encore, as she ended with “Good Days” before stars came out and the screen shuts to a title that showed “The End.”
SZA’s S.O.S. Tour marked the chart-topper’s first-ever arena tour and earned her endless praise, truly living up to the anticipation fans had to see their favorite artist live. Her 90-minute set told a story of being lost and how the journey to finding yourself can be hard and heartbreaking, but worth it. It showed true meaning behind the music, proving that SZA is here to stay for years to come.
