Tanner Adell Ushers In A New Renaissance for Country Music with Mixtape “Buckle Bunny” (Exclusive)

There’s a new wave of country music upon us, and Tanner Adell is at the forefront of the genre’s renaissance.

After her voice coach gave her the push to leave Utah Valley University and make the move to Nashville to pursue her dream as a country artist, Tanner hit the ground running by writing songs and performing live anywhere she could. The young artist even documented it all on TikTok, which led her to accumulate roughly 400K followers on TikTok, 1.75M monthly Spotify listeners, 1.1M YouTube views and a coveted record deal with Columbia Records.

“Everything happened very naturally. I moved to Nashville two years ago to pursue country music and country music my own way. I had a friend who lived there and he worked his butt off to get me into a writing room with Andrew Baylis and Michael Whitworth where I wrote ‘Country Girl Commandments.’ It got sent around to publishers and everyone was like, ‘who is this?’ Tanner tells Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder of her musical beginnings in an exclusive interview over Zoom.

“It was within my first week of moving to Nashville and it opened up so many other doors for me to write with so many more people. It ended up being why I think I am where I am now and why I think it has gone so quickly for me,” she continues.

Growing up as an adopted bi-racial female who split her time between the coast of Manhattan Beach, California and the rustic charm of Star Valley, Wyoming, Tanner resonated with so much thanks to her blended background. Noting that she grew up listening to all types of music — including everything from Josh Turner and Keith Urban to Destiny’s Child and Britney Spears — the star-in-the-making wanted to make country music that everyone wanted to experience, which resulted in her debut, eight-track mixtape Buckle Bunnywhich was released on all music streaming platforms back in July. Three new songs were added this past Friday (September 15) with Buckle Bunny Deluxe —  “Luke Combs,” “Backroad” and previously-released fan-favorite “Love You A Little Bit” — giving listeners even more tracks to vibe to (and love).

Buckle Bunny is filled with playful, country-inspired lyrics accompanied by pop-sounding vocals on top of hip-hop, R&B and even trap beats to give the genre the breath of fresh air it truly needs. It breaks every single stigma of what you would expect when listening to a country record, and we can’t get enough of it.

“There are so many more people that want to experience country music, and they’re just not getting what they want out of what Nashville is giving right now, which is very traditional. We have a lot of people moving into the pop country space, but we’re seeing a lot of the same thing for the last hundred years. And there are a lot of people in the world that want to hear more,” Tanner explains.  “My goal is that I want to create a community of people who say that they didn’t think they could like anything remotely country, but they love this.”
