The 2019 AMAs are going to be a big one for Taylor Swift.
The pop superstar will be honored with the coveted “Artist of the Decade” award at this year’s show, dick clark productions and ABC announced earlier today. In addition to the honor, Swift will deliver an unprecedented performance celebrating the biggest hits of her career.
“Taylor’s impact on music this decade is undeniable and her performances on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular,” said Mark Bracco, Executive Vice President, Programming & Development, dick clark productions. “We’re thrilled to honor her as our Artist of the Decade and can’t wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other!”
The honor is more than deserved, as Taylor has won more AMAs than any other artist in this decade, and hold the record for most AMAs wins of any female artist ever, with 23. She is nominated for five categories this year, including Artist of the Year; Favorite Music Video; Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock; Favorite Album – Pop/Rock; Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary.
