“Teen Wolf” to Return with Original Cast Members for a Teen Wolf Movie on Paramount+

It’s been four years since Teen Wolf aired its series finale on MTV, and after many howls for more episodes (and even a revival), the network has finally howled back with some exciting news.

On Sept. 24, Paramount+ shared on their website that MTV Entertainment Studios announced a partnership with creator/writer/producer Jeff Davis that will result in a horde of exciting new projects for their platform, including a Teen Wolf movie, which Davis is set to write and executive produce.

The streaming network also shared that as part of the deal, Davis will serve as showrunner and writer of Wolf Pack, an all-new series based on Edo Van Belkom’s beloved books. He’ll also act as showrunner and director for the pilot of the previously announced live-action reboot of Æon Flux, the iconic MTV series that centered around one of the first anime female superheroes.

While fans wait for the new movie to drop, they can watch the teaser below, which starts with the text, “a wolf howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack,” followed by tons of fan messages saying to bring back Teen Wolf. “We’ve heard your howls,” the screen then reads, “and we’re howling back…”

It then cuts to a blue Jeep — which was owned by Dylan O’Brien‘s character Stiles Stilinski — and a wolf with red eyes howling.

Keep scrolling to see everything we know about the film — the plot, when it drops and who will star in it — and let us know if you’re excited for Teen Wolf‘s return by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.

In the meantime, you can gear up for the film by watching the six season, 100 episode series on Paramount+ beginning this December 2021.

What is the plot of the Teen Wolf Movie?

The film synopsis reads: A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall (played by Tyler Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.

Will it be the same cast?

The 6-season show starred Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Melissa Ponzio, Crystal Reed, Colton Haynes, Arden Cho, and Dylan Sprayberry. As of right now none of the original cast has been confirmed for the movie but Davis said the original cast is in talks to return. Tyler shared the news on his Instagram feed while Colton tweeted, “teen wolf is the #1 ww trending topic… I wonder why? Did something happen?”

When does filming start/when will it come out?

There is no official date to start filming as they are still waiting to confirm the cast. As for the release date, Paramount+ announced, in a tweet that the film will be released in 2022.

What about the other projects?

As for Wolf Pack and Æon Flux, here are what the descriptions read:

Based on the book series by Edo Van Belkom, Wolf Pack follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills. Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire. As the full moon rises, all four teens come together to unravel the secret that connects them—the bite and blood of a werewolf.

Set in a post-apocalyptic near future where countries no longer exist, reduced to Spartan like city-states locked in perpetual war, where children are turned into lethal soldiers and every citizen carries a gun, one young woman rises up to rebel against her Orwellian government as she becomes the hero known as Æon Flux.
