Tess Holliday officially became the queen of clap backs after a woman body-shamed her as they were in a waiting room.
Body-shaming is never okay, period. We often see others body-shaming on social media, but on this rare occasion, the 36-year-old was body-shamed during her visit to the doctor’s office.
In an Instagram post, she shared the woman told her, “you are so pretty, you have a beautiful face and your beautiful hair.” Just as Holliday was thanking the woman, she then proceeded to say, “why don’t you just lose a little bit of weight?”
Although this isn’t the first time someone says something like that to her, Holliday says she has “deeply seeded trauma and people-pleasing tendencies” she didn’t give the typical response she gives. Instead, she told the woman, “ma’am, I am one of the most famous plus-size models in the world; I think I’m doing okay.”

She was very happy with her response — and who wouldn’t be? Unfortunately, the woman continued by trying to give her a “diet talk.”
Holliday continued in the video with, “Then she goes, ‘you know, I just stop eating when I’m not hungry anymore.’ And I just said, ‘Bodies are weird.’ And then I looked at my phone and God bless, I hear Terry the nurse say my name, and I was like, ‘Bye!'”
Instead of letting that comment ruin her day, the plus-sized model said she was very proud ‘for standing up for myself even though she will never get it.’ No one should have to explain their situation to anyone.
Her caption said, “I don’t often give myself enough credit, & my energy this year is very much to cut that s— out. Going to the doctor & dealing with someone body shaming me was apparently my tipping point lol, not sorry 👵🏻 #effyourbeautystandards”
The model, activist, and mother was diagnosed with anorexia last year and shared the news with her fans.

Earlier this year, she shared her experience with the TODAY Show, claiming she did not know what anorexia was until last year. Not many people believed her and others think she did it to get attention. Her initial reaction to those commenting on her diagnosis was laughing since she knows that isn’t true. In the essay, she wrote, “I still struggle with wrapping my head around, ‘How can I be in a fat body and be starving?’ Then I realized that bodies of all sizes and shapes starve.”
"The world needs to understand that eating disorders don’t discriminate — and thinking otherwise does a dangerous disservice to people living in larger bodies." –@Tess_Holliday wrote an essay for TODAY about her anorexia diagnosis https://t.co/fhgKGKDdGR

In the post, she also shared she is seeking help through therapy and claims talking has helped. Holliday also changed the people she surrounds herself with. She suggests those who need help find support. Resources were also provided.
