Bachelor alum Kelley Flanagan announced to her fans on Tuesday (August 31) that she was officially diagnosed with Lyme disease after discovering major body sensitivity and having unusual reactions.
Known for competing on Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor, Flanagan first made major headlines when she dated Weber after the show ended in April 2020. However, they did eventually part ways in December 2020.
The Chicago-based attorney revealed that her two brothers also have struggled with the disease but that she will do whatever she can to fight it.
“It’s a blessing and a curse because now i can target why i feel off so often but also means several different lifestyle changes and extensive research on how to help/hopefully cure this!” said Flanagan in a video post to her Instagram account.
Former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants Ashley Iaconetti, Tayshia Adams, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and Chris Randone among others have expressed their sympathy for the lawyer, commenting “I’m sorry Kelley;” “Praying for you Kelley;” and “We love Kelley” with tons of heart emojis.

According to the CDC, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by black-legged tick, that travels through your bloodstream and can infect various tissues in the body. Symptoms can include chest pains, weakness or fatigue in muscles, rashes and heart palpitations. Most cases of the disease can be treated with antibiotics.
Flanagan will be focusing on curing herself while taking her fans along with her. “There are definitely going to be a lot of changes but i’m going to put so much of my time and energy into figuring this out and combatting this. Love all of you and let’s take on this new journey.” she shared.
