Michelle Meets Matt’s Family
Matt James reached the end of his “journey” and it was shocking, to say the least. The Bachelor once again threw us reality TV enthusiasts a curveball, which left us craving a happily ever after. However, it wasn’t until the middle of the episode when James had a change of mind and shifted his experience.
Before Matt met up with his family, he told the cameras that he was “all in” with his two finalists, Michelle and Rachael. Therefore, he decided to take one step closer to his fairytale ending by introducing his leading ladies to his family. His mom, Patty, and brother John joined the cast and crew at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania to help guide Matt in the right direction.
While Michelle was getting ready to kick-off family dates, Patty shared her thoughts and opinions on Matt’s Bachelor journey. “I think it’s a long shot that Matt would be engaged at the end of this,” Patty told the cameras. Although, front-runner Michelle quickly changed her mind after making an everlasting impression.
The date started on the right foot when Michelle sat down with Patty and told her that Matt was a “world-changer” and expressed that those qualities are exactly what she was looking for in a man. Shortly after the heartfelt conversation, Patty started to cry with the elementary school teacher.
His mother also shared that Matt always chose friends who had “very strong families.” “ I felt like I couldn’t offer him that but to see that he’s grown up to be who he is makes me feel so proud because he has overcome a lot,” says Patty.
Michelle continued the conversation and said that she didn’t perceive Matt’s upbringing as a “weakness” and reassured, “I am very much in love with your son.” After winning over Patty’s heart, she told the Bachelor producers that she could see Michelle in the family.
“After Michelle and getting to know her and spending time with her, if things work out with Matt and Michelle, I can totally see her being a part of the family.”
Matt’s brother also had the opportunity to pull Michelle aside and he promised the cameras that he would “keep it real.” During the conversation, John asked basic questions such as “What do you see in Matt?” and information about her last long-term relationship. In fact, Michelle’s last relationship ended in January, but she shared that it should’ve been “called off” early because “it became unhealthy.”
Overall, the family date went well and Matt felt confident in his relationship. “I’m extremely excited about where we’re at in our relationship,” says Matt. “Today couldn’t have gone any better.”
