Last Date With Michelle
After a fantastic day with his family, Michelle and Matt took off on their last one-on-one date. Matt surprised Michelle with an adventurous day, where they will be rappelling down a building…
It was obvious that the couple was nervous to complete the challenge. However, Michelle told the cameras that she felt ready because she had Matt to depend on. “There’s this level of comfort that’s helping me get to the bottom,” she adds.
After making it safely down to the bottom of the building, they got together by a fire to have a tough, but necessary conversation about their future. “Do you feel like you are able to get to a spot emotionally where you need to be?” asked Michelle.
Matt shared that his discussions with his parents had altered his thoughts on his actions moving forward. “It definitely had me thinking about everything that I need to consider so that I can make the best decision for us,” he said in response.
Going into the dinner date, the two were on different ends of the love spectrum. Michelle was head-over-heels and Matt was battling his inner emotions.
“I cannot imagine having anyone else as my teammate at this point. It’s you,” she told Matt. “It’s you that I want and it’s really hard to honestly picture me being here without you.”
To go along with her sincere statement, Michelle pulled out two matching basketball jerseys that said “Mrs. And Mr. James.” The kind gesture influenced Matt to tell her his true feelings.
“I’m just like, having doubts.” He told Michelle. “And I shouldn’t be having any doubts about that. We’re like, a day or two away. This is the first time I’ve felt any type of thing outside of wanting to be with you forever and having just any doubts in my mind at this point for me is just like, scary. I’ve been pushing through that feeling today and trying to get there because of how I feel about you and what know like could look like with you. And I think the easy thing for me to do would be to tell you what you want to hear.”
Looking shocked and upset, Michelle responded with “that’s not what I’m looking for. It’s hard to feel like you have this connection with somebody and then with the flip of a switch it’s like, gone.”
After expressing their feelings, Matt hugged her and shared that he was very sorry. After the hard departure, the complicated bachelor instantly regretted his decision. “Here I am questioning: was saying goodbye to her tonight the right thing to do?” he said to Chris Harrison. “I wasn’t in love with her.”
