12 people were added to the coaches teams on tonight’s episode of The Voice (March 8).
Each contestant brought many things to their 90 second auditions. The show was filled with last-minute button pushing and some surprising decisions made by the contestants. Check out some highlights below.
Brittney Lawrence took the stage with “Warrior” by Demi Lovato. Her performance wowed Christina within the first 30 seconds causing her to push her button. As a viewer I was set that Brittney would be where she needed to be on Christina’s team that was until Blake came in with the hit of his button at the last second. This was one of several times that he did this, it was clearly annoying the judges, Adam referred to Blake’s new habit as a “tick”. This led to a battle for the books. Adam and Pharrell joined in and tried to help Christina with her efforts to snag Brittney. Aguilera even showcased a little snippet of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Huston. But in the end Brittney said, “You’re my girl, but I’m gonna have to go with Blake!”

An audition that completely took my breath away was – Daniel Passino and his cover of Charlie Puth’s, “Marvin Gaye“. I would be lying if I said I didn’t get goosebumps, although that may have been because of his overwhelming story about his journey to The Voice or that the first line had me craving more. As soon as I heard the first high note I knew in my heart he had to be on Team Christina and if he didn’t end up there I was going to be very disappointed, so I wasn’t surprised when Christina hit her button. I had my fingers crossed she would be the only one to turn but yet again Blake came in last second. At this point I was on the edge of my seat and for the first time in awhile did not want an artist to choose Shelton. Thankfully, Daniel didn’t break my heart and chose to be Team Christina.
