Thomas Rhett Talks Gearing Up for a Hot Country Summer with Tucker Wetmore and “Small Town Girls” (Exclusive)

Thomas Rhett is kicking off summer 2025 the only way he knows how — by going full throttle with new music, viral skits, and big tour energy.

The country king dropped three new tracks today (May 9) — “Dance With You,” “I’m That Guy” and the long-awaited fan-favorite “Small Town Girls” featuring his tour mate (and comedic partner-in-crime) Tucker Wetmore — and it’s already giving small-town sass, big-stage charm, and major summer playlist energy.

Celeb Secrets caught up with Thomas backstage at the 2025 iHeartCountry Festival in Austin last weekend — where he opened the show with a fire set stacked with hits like “Make Me Wanna,” “Beautiful As You,” and “Die a Happy Man.” Despite only having 25 minutes onstage, Thomas told us he had to sneak in both fan faves and new bops.

“We tried to pair a lot of things people knew with some of the newer stuff that we’ve released over the last six months,” he said to our host Juliet Schroder. “It’s weird playing 25 minutes, but also—how much can you pack into a short time?”

Spoiler alert: when you’re Thomas Rhett, the answer is a lot.

Of course, we had to ask about “Small Town Girls,” the slow-grooving, feel-good collab with Tucker that’s now officially part of his About A Woman (From a Small Town) deluxe drop. The track might sound like pure country romance, but the teaser skit he shared on Instagram? Pure comedy chaos.

“There were a lot of different ideas pitched to us—probably that Tucker could pull off more than I could,” TR told us, laughing. “So I was like, ‘Let’s just do something that doesn’t even relate to the song at all.’ If you like The Office, that was kind of our direction.”

Yes, that used furniture store boss-meets-new-guy storyline? Totally intentional. Totally ridiculous. And totally iconic. We need a full series ASAP.

As for the song itself? It’s already becoming a tour favorite—because, yes, you’ll be hearing it live when Thomas hits the road next month for his high-energy Better in Boots Tourwhich kicks off in Rogers, AR on June 5th.

“These three [new songs] are feel-good summer songs that the band and I have already started rehearsing for tour,” he shared. “To sing ‘Small Town Girls’ with Tucker every night is going to be a blast.”

And while the tour is stacked with arena and amphitheater stops across the country, there’s one date Thomas is extra hyped about.

“Fenway,” he said, without hesitation. “It’s always been a dream of mine to headline a baseball stadium. I think I have like 400 of my family and friends coming out to that show.”

From opening for Jason Aldean and Kenny Chesney back in the day, to now headlining one of the most iconic stadiums in the country with Tucker, The Castellows, and Teddy Swims? We’re calling it: this is Thomas Rhett in his stadium headliner era.

And the music? Just the beginning.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to continuously put music out,” Thomas explained in a statement. “When we were deciding what to include on About A Woman last year, I had about 30 songs we were picking between… We landed on the 14 that came out in August knowing we could keep releasing more of the others. I’m looking forward to putting out more throughout the summer!”

Between the hits, the humor, and the heart, Thomas Rhett is serving good vibes and good music all summer long—and we’re totally here for it.
