Tiera Kennedy Shares the Meaning Behind Her Upcoming Single “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist,” Teasing a New Era of Music (Exclusive)

It has been said that rising artist Tiera Kennedy is emerging as one of the most exciting voices in the format, as she’s injecting country music with a breath of vitality, and we could not agree more.

Having released “Found It In You,” “Alabama Nights” and TONS of other smash hits, the star-in-the-making has even more new songs on the horizon, beginning with the release “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” this upcoming Friday (July 21st).

With “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” just days away, as well as a full-length album in the works, Tiera Kennedy spilled the tea backstage at the 50th Annual CMA Fest in an exclusive interview with Celeb Secrets.

After teasing some new tunes on her various social media platforms, country music lovers are soooo excited to have even more music to stream from the budding songstress.

“I’ve been teasing a song called ‘Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist’ for a couple months now, and it’s gonna be coming out on July 21st, and I’m so pumped about it,” Tiera revealed to Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten. A lot of people have already heard it already from social media, and so when we had our little sing along part [during my CMA Fest performance], I saw them singing along in the crowd, and it was just so much fun.”

“I remember writing that song and we were like, ‘This is such a jam’ and we were like looking forward to being able to play it live, and the fans definitely lived up to the expectation. It was great,” she concluded with a smile.

The Birmingham, Alabama native then proceeded to share the meaning behind the track, explaining to us, “Coming from a small town, you really can’t trust anybody with anything. Like if you tell one person, the whole town’s gonna know, but my three people that I know I can go to and trust with information are Jesus, my Mama and my therapist, and they will give me their honest opinion and not tell anybody else.”

“It’s just kind of a fun approach on that, and I feel like everybody can relate to that, you know? So yeah, it was really fun writing that song and performing it is just as fun,” she dished.

While “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” is definitely a soon-to-be hit, Tiera revealed that “we do have a new era coming,” filled with TONS of new material.

‘Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist’ is the first little sneak peek into an album that I have coming really soon,” she spilled. “I’ve gotten to write some songs that I’m really proud of, and I’ve been teasing some of them at shows, and then there are some that people haven’t heard yet that will be on an album coming at some point… It’s the beginning of a new journey and I’m thrilled.”

With the even more new music on the horizon, the emerging artist revealed to Celeb Secrets, “I really hope that when people listen through that they get to know me a little bit better. That’s kind of the whole goal with this music, but in a fun approach.”

“They’re gonna be able to dance along and then, you know, we’ve got some more personal songs on the record as well, so it kind of spans through everything. They’re gonna get a little bit of everything,” ultimately unveiling some sides to Tiera Kennedy that we have yet to see.

One of the songs that is especially personal to the rising country star is a track called “I Ain’t a Cowgirl,” which she has teased on her social media in the past.

“There’s a song on the record called ‘I Ain’t a Cowgirl’ that I feel like is the most personal on the album. I got to write that with my friends, so it was a little bit easier to be more vulnerable and to talk about the stuff that I was going through, because I used to not be very good at that,” she disclosed. “I kind of kept my music at surface level, but I want people to be able to get to know me. I have good days, but I’ll also have bad days.”

“It is hard to get personal, but when I put those songs out there and hear how people relate to that and how it makes their day better, it’s definitely worth it. I put a snippet of ‘I Ain’t a Cowgirl’ on my Instagram, and I was a little scared to do it because it is so personal, but then, you know, immediately seeing those comments and seeing those DMs, it really made it worth it,” the talented singer-songwriter concluded with a grin.
