Tiffany Woys Says Heartbreak Catapulted Her Into Discovering Her Songwriter Side For New EP “I’m Your Woman” (Exclusive)

Tiffany Woys is ready to continue telling her story with new music.

The California native delivers her autobiographical EP I’m Your Woman today (May 31), and it’s as raw as it gets. Although ingrained in music all throughout her life, this project differs from any other project the songstress has released before. She’s always been a singer, but never pictured herself being a songwriter until heartbreaking events happened in her personal life — the ending to her five year relationship to her then-fiancé who called off the wedding six weeks before they took to the alter.

“I’ve always been excited about my projects, but this one way more so because I actually co-wrote all of it,” Tiffany spilled to Celeb Secrets Country writer Brianna Vacca in an exclusive interview.

“A huge life event catapulted me into discovering the songwriter in me. I wasn’t doing that when I moved here. I wasn’t a girl who wrote in my diary. I loved writing, but I didn’t think about writing songs. I knew I wanted to sing. I knew Nashville was filled with amazing songwriters, so it was like teamwork makes the dreamwork, right? I was always unapologetic about the fact that I wasn’t going to do something just because somebody says that’s the only way you’re going to have to make it happen. There’s plenty of artists that take outside cuts. It wasn’t until recently when a major life shift happened that I was like, I kind of get it now when other artists say when they say that they’re much more proud of this work because I’ve written it,” she continued.

Specificity of the Tiffany’s inner thoughts was essential to express, and she does exactly that in “Took Back.” It takes listeners through the conversation she wish she could’ve had with her ex, and the misconceptions he had about the singer regarding materialistic things.

“The knife in the gut was asking for the ring back,” she confessed.  “I was really taken aback by that. I was shocked, but not because I wanted the ring, not because I wanted to wear it. It was more so that it was six weeks before the wedding and he was the one that called it off. I thought it was crazy because we didn’t get a dime back for the wedding and it was basically paid in full.”

She continued, “I wanted this song to symbolize a last conversation between him and I that I never got to have. I wanted to write a song as if he were sitting in front of me and he couldn’t say anything back. It was about my raw emotions and about the idea of this ring, because in his eyes it was all about the ring for me and it wasn’t. The ring symbolizes something more, it’s a future, a promise. It’s not just about the ring. I had also just bought a house with this man. So, in the second verse, I talk about how the house is not just a house. It’s everything that happens inside the house, it’s the life you create with the person. The house means nothing. And I’m still in the house to this day and I’m glad that I was able to create so many more new memories in this house and it didn’t affect that.”

Title track “I’m Your Woman” channels a different energy for the singer. Currently rising on the Mediabase Activator Chart, she teamed up with Lynn Hutton, Tammi Kidd Hutton and Cameron Newby to create an anthem for woman to embrace who they are not realizing that it was going to be the song that she needed to hear herself.

“That’s actually one of the first ones we wrote. I was on my first writer’s retreat and I was very much happy and engaged,” she shared. “That being one of the first songs that I wrote, I thought it was going to be an anthem for other people. Like, be proud of who you are and what you have to offer. If it ain’t what you’re looking for, fine, but I’m somebody’s woman. What I didn’t realize was that this song would mean to me entering this new phase of life and for it to be my first single meant even more to me because it was me entering back into the world, even though I was already starting to date somebody and be like, yeah, this is who I am.”

Named an artist to watch by many music critics around town, the eight-song collection follows the 2023 release of her song “You Think You Know Someone” and her 2022 EP, All About Love, which houses songs “About Love” and “I Don’t Want You Back.” She also is the host of hit podcast What’s Mine Is Yours, where she interviews some of Nashville’s biggest talents such as Hunter Hayes, Jay DeMarcus, The Warren Brothers and more.
