Vella, formerly known as Gabriella Valdes, recently released her debut original single “Sky Without Stars.” After releasing this hot new track and signing with L3V3L Records, it is no surprise that this talented 17-year-old is making waves in the music scene.
Describing herself as the love child of Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin, Vella is an all-out rockstar whose soulful voice will have you hooked after just one listen. No wonder she is always going viral on TikTok!
In just one month, Vella has amassed over one million views on her music video and half a million streams across platforms. While “Sky Without Stars” is Vella’s debut release, it is surely not the last we will be hearing from this talent.
We caught up with the Florida native remotely to hear all about her single, the music video, and what’s coming next.

Celeb Secrets: Hi Vella! Thanks for chatting with us. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?
Vella: “Hi my name is Vella! I’m 17 years old and I’m a singer! I love anime and playing on my Nintendo switch.”
CS: You went viral last year on TikTok and a lot of your fans may know you as Gabriella Valdes. Can you tell us where the name Vella came from, and what made you use that as your artist name?
V: “I actually didn’t make it up! It was actually Matt Hill, the owner of the record label that thought of it. He got it by using V in Valdes and ella in Gabriella and turned it into Vella. At first I had to get used to it because the name was so new to me but as time went by I started loving it!”
CS: Congratulations on the success of “Sky Without Stars!” We love the retro vibe. Can you tell us what the song means to you and what you hope listeners take away from it?
V: “What this song means to me is by staying true to yourself. I don’t need a significant other to make me happy, I have myself and that is all I need! I want my fans to understand the message of the song. When you put your foot down stay with your decision and not take shit from no one! No matter what! You are better off without that person.”
CS: The music video is also quite the production! Were you nervous at all filming the video? How do you remain so confident when it comes to performing?
V: “Not at all! I absolutely LOVE performing. It is my all time favorite thing to do. I guess I’ve had this confidence ever since I was little. I would always want a crowd around me all the time as a kid and still do till this day!”
CS: What can you tell us about your upcoming music? When can we expect more?
V: “A lot of originals, covers, and music videos! And also might be doing gigs here and there.”
CS: If you could collaborate with any artist right now, who would it be and why?
V: “It would be Adele! I absolutely love her voice.”
CS: Where do you hope your music takes you in the next 5 years?
V: “Winning Grammys and working with my favorite artists.”
