WATCH: The Voice Season 19’s Top 9 Contestants Reflect on Semi-Final Performances

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a tough year. We’ve been forced to face life trials in ways we never thought we would, but the one thing that’s been making the weight of this heavy year seem a little lighter is Season 19 of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning series The Voice. Seeing how each contestant sacrificed more than any other has to chase their dream during a global pandemic gave us hope that there’s light at the end of the Coronavirus tunnel.

Yesterday, Celeb Secrets hopped on a Zoom call with the Top 9 minutes after they got off stage — Team Blake Shelton‘s Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan; Team Kelly Clarkson‘s Desz and Cami Clune; Team John Legend‘s Tamara Jade, Bailey Rae and John Holiday; and Team Gwen Stefani‘s Ben Allen and Carter Rubin — where they opened up about last night’s live show performance and more.

When asked about how they’ve been staying inspired while competing during the pandemic, Team Blake Shelton’s Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan both agreed that the influences are all around them. They are surrounded by amazing, talented, creative people and their schedules are so tight, they don’t have time to lose focus.

Team Gwen’s Ben Allen opened up about the moments just before he took the stage. Letting us know that sheer willpower is what kept his nerves down prior to singing one of Blake Shelton’s original songs, Desz and Cami Clune of Team Kelly Clarkson spoke about their four chair turns and how surreal it was that all four judges wanted to work with them.

For Cami, the future looks like releasing and writing music and potential beginning her own production company in which she will direct and act, while for Desz, the future will also be filled with music and content, and potentially some crossover into the world of fashion and modeling.

For Team John Legend, we asked Tamara Jade her secret to being so confident and how she channels that energy each time she hits the stage for America’s votes. Constantly reminding herself why she loves being a musician, Jade says that she lets love and light go before her and says a little prayer to help her get through each performance. Contestant Bailey Rae echoed Tamara’s answer, saying that it keeps her centered during the competition.

When it came to speaking with John Legend’s final team member, John Holiday — someone we’ve been impressed with since his blind auditions — we had so much to ask. Curious about his perspective regarding both the positive and negatives about being on the voice during a pandemic, Holiday says that he only chooses to focus own the good and about how humbled he is by the viewers who watch the show week after week. During those five minutes, he chooses to show people his authentic self in hope to inspire kindness and be the change he wants to see in the world.

Tune in to The Voice‘s results show tonight at 9PM ET/PT on NBC to see if your favorite is making it to the finals.
