From favorite gifts to special traditions, have you ever wondered how your favorite celebrities celebrate the holidays? Us too!
Celeb Secrets met up with the star one cold December day – right before the proposal – to find out what she had planned for the holidays and what she is working towards in 2018.
Celeb Secrets: So we’re here with Daniella Monet in New York City. How are you?
Daniella Monet: “I’m good! How are you?”
Celeb Secrets: I’m good. What have you been doing when you’re here in New York?
Daniella Monet: “Oh my gosh, well we saw the ‘SpongeBob’ musical last night. That was really, really fun. It was actually amazing. They were so talented. The guy who plays – Ethan – the guy who plays SpongeBob was mind-blowing!”
Celeb Secrets: The holidays are right around the corner. What do you have planned for the holidays?
Daniella Monet: “The holidays? I’m just going to be staying with family, usually we go out of town to visit my boyfriend’s family up north, but we’re going to be with my family this year. And we’re going to be doing a lot of cooking and a lot of baking. I’m just so excited to be in my kitchen for like a straight week and just pump out a ton of good stuff.”
Celeb Secrets: Tell me about these dishes!
Daniella Monet: “Oh girl, follow me! I’ll be posting so much! I’ll be like all alone in my kitchen like this is what I’m doing, losing my mind… it’s fine! I’m excited about it.”
Celeb Secrets: And how is that? I know you’re vegan – we talked about that before – making dishes for the Christmas and the holidays? Do you find any difficulties?
Daniella Monet: “Well, I’ve been vegan for 16 years and just recently, I’d say in the last few years, my family has become so accommodating and a lot of my family is very vegan friendly, but not necessarily fully vegan. But this year my mom is hosting Christmas Eve and she was asking me “hey we want to bake cookies” and everything she wants to do is as much vegan as possible. So I’m going to be making a lasagna, I’m going to be doing cookies, dessert – I’m excited about that. I think it’s so cool that they embrace it because I think personally I’m doing a good service for them, as well, because of their health and wellbeing. As long as it tastes good, I’ll eat it so let’s do that!”
Celeb Secrets: What’s your favorite thing about the holidays? Maybe like a special tradition you do or just something you like about the season?
Daniella Monet: “I don’t know! I think just like the music and the environment and the way that people act around the holidays. It’s nice to hear people say “happy holidays!” and like you don’t even get to interact with people half the time because the world goes around so fast, you know, you go through your day and you smile sometimes. But during the holidays, there’s a totally different energy! I love that!
Celeb Secrets: What would you say was your favorite gift you received?
Daniella Monet: “Favorite gift? Oh gosh, I’m so not good at receiving gifts! I’m not a big gift person but I like the simple things – ones that are super thoughtful and are just for like everyday use. If someone gets me like, well first of all let’s be honest, I love candles I’m like a big candle person so that will make me happy.”
Celeb Secrets: And if you could have your dream Secret Santa, who would you want to give that to?
Daniella Monet: “Oh who would I want to give a gift to? That’s a good question! I feel like this is so the obvious, but like maybe my boyfriend because I know him best and I’m totally going to give him something that he wants.”
Celeb Secrets: I want to talk about the New Year! What do you have coming up? What are some goals you want to achieve in 2018?
Daniella Monet: “Goals… hmm, I would love to just become just a little more grown up! I’m like this careless, free-flowing kind of girl. I want to be like a little more disciplined in some ways, like I’m very disciplined when it comes to health and wellness and working out and that sort of thing, but I’m not as disciplined with tasks that aren’t as fun; like I’m not good with putting my head down if I need to go to work and do something that I don’t want to do. I have to work on that, that’s the truth!”
