This past Saturday, September 10th, the country’s eight most heroic hounds walked the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel before taking part in the sixth annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards hosted by Beth Stern and James Denton.

The night featured a musical performance by Katharine McPhee and touched the many celebrities in attendance including Pauley Perrette, Marilu Henner, Jack Wagner, Dave Foley, Greg Louganis, Brandon McMillan (dog trainer), Allison Sweeney, Victoria Stillwell, Dr. Marty Becker and others.

Based on nearly a million public votes and voting by a celebrity panel, one special dog, Hooch, was named the “2016 American Hero Dog.” The remaining seven of America’s top dogs received Hero Dog awards for their work as military dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, guide/hearing dogs, arson dogs, service dogs, and law enforcement dogs.

The event will be broadcast nationwide on Hallmark Channel October 28 at 8 pm ET/PT.
