Melissa McCarthy is officially the boss! Her new comedy, The Boss, dethroned Batman v Superman at the box office this weekend. After two weeks at No 1., The Boss beat out the DC movie with only by about $50K. Both filmed received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics, however that didn’t stop movie goers.
Universal exec Nicholas Carpou said in a statement, “We celebrate Melissa McCarthy and The Boss, and love that the public is embracing the movie as the leading offering this weekend.”
The Boss marks McCarthy’s third movie to debut at number one and her sixth straight film to gross over $20 million in it’s opening weekend. In fact, McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone who directed The Boss, have already lined up their next project Life Of The Party.
