“The Voice” Season 10 Premiere Recap: Blind Auditions, Night 1 – February 29, 2016

The Voice USA began its 10th season on NBC Monday, February 29th. The show as always did not disappoint, as it was filled with competitive banter from its four panel of coaches Blake SheltonChristina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, and Adam Levine.

Per usual, Country star Blake Shelton went back and forth with leader singer of Maroon 5 Adam Levine several times throughout the night. Levine mocked Shelton in many adorable country accents. Blake even went in and double-teamed Adam, getting Pharrell another member on his team. We love how Blake and Adam will do whatever it takes so the other doesn’t win!

The season ten premiere of The Voice, in our opinion, was five stars not only because of the hilarious banter, but also because of the auditions. As we mentioned earlier this afternoon, this season by far has the strongest talent to date.

Check out our favorite auditions from last night’s episode below…

Paxton Ingram

One of our favorite blind auditions from tonight was Paxton Ingram‘s cover of “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn. He took a popular pop song and added so much soul. He told the panel that his biggest music influence was Michael Jackson. His audition made 3/4 coaches turn around.  To me, I thought Paxton would go with Pharrell because he was more up his alley musically, but he chose Blake.

Abby Celso

Another audition that stole the show for us was Abby Celso and her performance “It Should’ve Been Us” by Tori Kelly. Her audition was a definite highlight! Her version of the song had me using a hairbrush in my room wishing I could belt it like her. Two coaches pressed their buttons for her – Pharrell and Adam. Before she could make her decision Blake joined forces with Pharrell to try and get her on his team because Blake didn’t want her on Adam‘s team. Pharrell and Adam went back and forth about a metaphor on where they should stand by Abby on her journey through The Voice. It appears she was happiest with Pharrell’s Yoda-style statement about being behind her to catch her when she falls.

Mary Sarah

Last but not least, another highlight for us was Mary Sarah’s audition. We were SUPER excited to see Mary Sarah on the stage because we’ve been supporting her career for quite some time now! Remember our interview from CMA Fest?

Mary put her own spin on “Where The Boys Are” and it landed her with a four chair turn (obviously). As we predicted, Mary Sarah chose Blake Shelton as her coach. Before she chose her coach, Shelton said that he could launch her career so far that she would be able to bring it home to Nashville and perform at the Opry. We know that is 100% in her future with pipes like those!
