Movie Title: Beats per Minute (2017)
This French film would not have been possible without the founding of ACT UP. The grassroots political group worked to end the AIDS pandemic, raise awareness, and create community resources.
Beats per Minute highlights the organization’s Paris chapter and follows Nathan – a young man in the group. As medical conferences are interrupted and pharmaceutical headquarters are being broken into, Nathan observes the radical measures that some of his activist peers are willing to go. These 140 minutes help highlight the individuals who organized global conversation and reveal the importance of social change.
