It’s almost time for the 2021 SAG Awards!

While we wait just a few more days until the big show, Celeb Secrets is giving you our thoughts on who will win some shiny new hardware at this year’s show in ALL of the categories.

This year’s nominees are led by Netflix, as the streaming platform scored 30 nominations across all 13 film and television categories. For film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Minari are tied for three nominations, followed by Da Bloods, The Father, Hillbilly Elegy, One Night in Miami… and The Trial of the Chicago 7 all earning two nominations each. For TV, Schitt’s Creek and The Crown both earned five nominations, with Ozark earning four.

Check out our winner predictions below and let us know what you think of them by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.

The 2021 SAG Awards will air on Sunday, April 4th @ 9PM ET/6PM PT on TBS and TNT.

THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 (L-R) YAHYA ABDUL-MATEEN II as BOBBY SEALE, BEN SHENKMAN as LEONARD WEINGLASS, MARK RYLANCE as WILLIAM KUNTSLER, EDDIE REDMAYNE as TOM HAYDEN, ALEX SHARP as RENNIE DAVIS. NICO TAVERNISE/NETFLIX © 2020.

MOTION PICTURE

MOTION PICTURE CAST:

Nominees: “Da 5 Bloods,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Minari,” “One Night in Miami…,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7

Who We Think Will Win: This is a tough choice because we love the cast of Minari and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, but we think The Trial of the Chicago 7 will take this award for their incredible work on the film. Sacha Baron Cohan, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and more all in one film? Sign us up!

MALE ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE — MOTION PICTURE:

Nominees: Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”), Chadwick Boseman (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), Anthony Hopkins (“The Father”), Gary Oldman (“Mank”), Steven Yeun (“Minari”)

Who We Think Will Win: The late Chadwick Boseman has continued to be honored throughout this award season and has earned countless awards for his career-changing work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom so we can definitely see the SAG Awards continue this winning-streak for him.

FEMALE ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE — MOTION PICTURE:

Nominees: Amy Adams (“Hillbilly Elegy”), Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), Vanessa Kirby (“Pieces of a Woman”), Frances McDormand (“Nomadland”), Carey Mulligan (“Promising Young Woman”)

Who We Think Will Win: Viola Davis just became the most Oscar-nominated black actress in history with her Best Actress nomination for her work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and she’s totally deserving of it, so we don’t see anyone else winning the SAG award.

MALE ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE — MOTION PICTURE:

Nominees: Sacha Baron Cohen (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”), Chadwick Boseman (“Da 5 Bloods”), Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Black Messiah”), Jared Leto (“The Little Things”), Leslie Odom, Jr. (“One Night in Miami…”)

Who We Think Will Win: Even though Sacha Baron Cohen did a fantastic job in “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” we believe that Daniel Kaluuya will win and take home the award for his invigorating performance in Judas and the Black Messiah.

FEMALE ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE — MOTION PICTURE:

Nominees: Maria Bakalova (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”), Glenn Close (“Hillbilly Elegy”), Olivia Colman (“The Father”), Youn Yuh-Jung (“Minari”), Helena Zengel (“News of the World”)

Who We Think Will Win: Maria Bakalova has had quite an award season thus far with her first blockbuster film, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and we’re sure the SAG committee will see her incredible work and award her the award for Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a motion picture.

STUNT ENSEMBLE IN A MOTION PICTURE:

Nominees: “Da 5 Bloods,” “Mulan,” “News of the World,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “Wonder Woman 1984”

Who We Think Will Win: Mulan may have been a close call for this title with all the intense training scenes that bring so much character to the movie, revealing the strength of every warrior. But controversy struck when the #BoycottMulan movement rose after actress Liu Yifei expressed her support for the Hong Kong police. Since Wonder Woman 1984 brings us another epic story about female power without the scandal, we suspect their stunt ensemble will reap the rewards this time!

TELEVISION PROGRAMS

DRAMA SERIES ENSEMBLE:

Nominees: “Better Call Saul,” “Bridgerton,” “The Crown,” “Lovecraft Country,” “Ozark”

Who We Think Will Win: It’s probably safe to admit The Crown makes us all fall madly in love with history, a typically dreaded subject, in each and every episode. While Bridgerton is the biggest show on Netflix, boasting 82-million streams in the first month, we believe The Crown still has a leading edge. In our opinion, The Crown’s ability to give us an inside look at reality-based drama among arguably one of the most high-profile families in the globe will be enough to pull out this win.

COMEDY SERIES ENSEMBLE:

Nominees: “Dead to Me,” “The Flight Attendant,” “The Great,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “Ted Lasso”

Who We Think Will Win: With a hilarious storyline on top of a star-studded cast, Schitt’s Creek never fails when it comes to making us laugh on the worst of days. Seriously, even in the COVID-19 pandemic, we always manage to find comfort by recounting the multiple failures dramatized in this series. If Schitt’s Creek can make going bankrupt look funny, what can’t it do?

MALE ACTOR IN A TV MOVIE OR MINISERIES:

Nominees: Bill Camp (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”), Hugh Grant (“The Undoing”), Ethan Hawke (“The Good Lord Bird”), Mark Ruffalo (“I Know This Much Is True”)

Who We Think Will Win: For pulling off a double-act as Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in I Know This Much Is True, we humbly believe Mark Ruffalo is deserving of not only one, but two nominations (or at least that’s how much we wish was true). In his nominated performance, Ruffalo shows us he can handle the challenge of acting out a complicated relationship between two brothers while practically talking to himself in several scenes. Now that’s impressive!

FEMALE ACTOR IN A TV MOVIE OR MINISERIES:

Nominees: Cate Blanchett (“Mrs. America”), Michaela Coel (“I May Destroy You”), Nicole Kidman (“The Undoing”), Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Kerry Washington (“Little Fires Everywhere”)

Who We Think Will Win: In her role as orphaned chess superstar Beth Harmon, Anya Taylor-Joy does a whole lot more than evoke simple pity from her audience. With an excellent performance, she brilliantly convinces us to binge watch The Queen’s Gambit in anxiety while rooting for Harmon to win in every single game. By making us feel as though we’re really part of the plot, Taylor-Joy takes us on a journey that spans from the lows of waiting for adoption to major international championships.

MALE ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Nominees: Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), Josh O’Connor (“The Crown”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Regé-Jean Page (“Bridgerton”)

Who We Think Will Win: As Bridgerton’s Simon Basset (a.k.a. the charming Duke of Hastings), Regé-Jean Page takes us into a twisted past we just can’t shake out of our memories. By showing us how Basset is still tenderly affected from parental abuse of the past, he quickly gains our sympathy as he struggles to navigate his shaky marriage. We manage to forgive him through the lowest of lows, just because we can sense how deeply traumatized he must be.

FEMALE ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Nominees: Gillian Anderson (“The Crown”), Olivia Colman (“The Crown”), Emma Corrin (“The Crown”), Julia Garner (“Ozark”), Laura Linney (“Ozark”)

Who We Think Will Win: It’s no surprise that The Crown’s leading ladies have taken over this category, but we think that Gillian Anderson’s stunning performance as Margaret Thatcher will take the crown in this category (pun always intended). I mean a show is only as good as how its cast performs right?

MALE ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES:

Nominees: Nicholas Hoult (“The Great”), Dan Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”), Eugene Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”), Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”), Ramy Youssef (“Ramy”)

Who We Think Will Win: Despite Dan Levy’s incredible performance in Schitt’s Creek, we think Jason Sudeikis will sweep in and take the win for his heartwarming performance as Ted Lasso

FEMALE ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES:

Nominees: Christina Applegate (“Dead to Me”), Linda Cardellini (“Dead to Me”), Kaley Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”), Annie Murphy (“Schitt’s Creek”), Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”)

Who We Think Will Win: Catherine O’Hara’s performance as Moira Rose in the hit comedy, Schitt’s Creek, will definitely get her the winning spot in this category! Her comedic character gave us all the laughs and we think the SAG association will agree.

STUNT ENSEMBLE IN A TV SERIES:

Nominees: “The Boys,” “Cobra Kai,” “Lovecraft Country,” “The Mandalorian,” “Westworld”

Who We Think Will Win: Filled with big, extreme, stunts, we think that Cobra Kai has got this in the bag. The impressive kick butt karate skills shown throughout the series made the show all more exciting. The fight choreography and sequences are incredibly sick and we think this is definitely a win for the series.
