What is Musical.ly?
The Musical.ly app was founded by creator Alex Zhu and Luyu Yang back in 2013 and has since risen to #1 in the iOS App Store in 19 countries (including the US) and counting! The app gives users the opportunity to create lip-sync videos, but unlike Dubsmash, this app has much more! You can make silly little clips to share privately or with all your followers. take on hilarious challenges (such as the #PATDVictorious challenge), and even infuse your own music into your videos. The app is 100% free with NO in-app purchases yet and offers a ton of features that are sure to bring you hours of amusement. How awesome is that? Although some editing features are only available to those who share their clips on their other social networks, it’s not that much of a biggie since you’re probably going to want to anyway!
How does Musical.ly work?
Like Vine, you can record multiple clips and then fuse them together to create one amazing video, but it’s the editing portion that makes this app one of a kind. First off, you can shoot your video in many different ways – Time Lapse, Epic, Slow, Fast, Normal, and Fast are just to name a few. After importing your video into the app, you can add in the music and use different effects to edit. The effects are only half the fun! In addition to the different shooting modes, you can reverse your clip or use the Time Trap to repeat an awesome moment over again.
Contests and Challenges
With other apps like it, all you can do is upload the video and watch the view count grow. With Musical.ly, you can do that as well as compete in and win various challenges. There is a list of trending topics and contests that is constantly changing so there’s always something for everyone! In addition to the challenges, you can see what’s popular now and who is leading on the leaderboard.
Childhood Cancer International
In addition to all the fun, Musical.ly has recently announced their partnership with Childhood Cancer International.
