AFC Edges Out NFC To Win 2022 NFL Pro Bowl

The AFC snagged an impressive 41-35 win over the NFC during the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl.

The NFL All-Star Game equivalent was held on Sunday at the shiny new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was due to host the game last year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a tight first quarter in which the AFC took the lead 14-13, it was free flying from there for the conference as they scored another 14 points in the second, leading by a score of 28-21 at halftime. The third quarter appeared to seal the deal for the AFC, as they scored another 13 points while holding the NFC to zero points for that quarter.

The NFC brought the heat in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points while holding the AFC to zero. However, it wasn’t enough as the AFC held on to win the game, 41-35 in front of a crowd of 56,206.

“It was a little slower than a normal game but the same concepts were at work,” quarterback Justin Herbert said of the game. Herbert, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, was named the offensive MVP of the game, featuring two touchdown passes but an interception.

Maxx Crosby, defensive end for the hometown Las Vegas Raiders, was named the game’s defensive MVP, with a sack and three batted passes. “I just, I didn’t want to injure or hurt anybody, but I still wanted to have fun and work on my game,” he said regarding his performance.

Crosby became the first Raider to win the Pro Bowl MVP in twenty years, with Rich Gannon winning it in 2002. Meanwhile, Herbert became the first Charger to win the award in 39 years, after former quarterback Dan Fouts won it in 1983.

The Pro Bowl joins the list of All-Star Games to occur in Las Vegas this weekend, as the NHL just wrapped up their All-Star Weekend on Saturday, which featured events also held in Vegas. You can read more about what went down in our recap here.
