The long-awaited trailer for the newest adaptation of Cinderella is finally here!
In the trailer released by Amazon Prime Video, we are introduced to an aspiring fashion designer named Ella who is played by Camila Cabello. In her daily life, we see that she tends to the needs of her evil Stepmother and stepsisters. To make a life for herself, she dreams of selling handmade dresses and running her own business called Dresses By Ella.
On the other side of town, we meet royals King Rowan, Queen Beatrice, and Prince Robert. The King and Queen vow to throw a ball in hopes of Prince Robert finding his future bride. After Ella designs a dress for the occasion, she is denied the opportunity to go by her Stepmother. However, Ella’s night is turned upside down once she is met by her Fab G.
Fab G uses his magical powers to grant Ella the night of her dreams. He gives her the whole package — a dress, a carriage, and three footmen. After Prince Robert chooses her as his bride, she is met with the difficult decision of choosing a life in a palace or a life working towards her fashion dreams.
The film, which is heavily inspired by the classic fairytale, certainly takes a new approach on the story. According to Variety, the featured music will be a mix of original songs and covers of popular songs. In the trailer, we got a preview of two covers: “Rhythm Nation” by Janet Jackson and “Somebody To Love” by Queen. A preview of an original song, “Million to One,” is also sung by Cabello.
Written and directed by Kay Cannon, the movie’s star-studded cast includes Idina Menzel (Stepmother), Nicholas Galitzine (Prince Robert), Billy Porter (Fab G), Pierce Brosnan (King Rowan), James Corden (Footman/Mouse), and Minnie Driver (Queen Beatrice).
