“American Idol” Runner-Up HunterGirl Releases Her First Single Since Being on the Show, Which Doubles as a ‘Thank You Card’ to her Hometown (Exclusive)

She captured our hearts on American Idol, and now HunterGirl is about to capture hearts of country music listeners worldwide.

“This has probably been the craziest year of my life,” the Winchester, Tennessee native told Celeb Secrets. “But since I got back from the show I’ve been writing a lot of songs, working on new music, and playing so many shows, and it’s just been awesome seeing all the fans that come out to all those.”

After taking some time to soak in some of her newfound fame, the budding country singer finally released her first track since her run on American Idol this past May. “Hometown Out Of Me” dropped today (October 21), and Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten sat down with HunterGirl to talk ALL about it.

Written by HunterGirl with the help of Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins, the song is incredibly vulnerable AND personal while referencing the 24-year-old’s ability to stay true to her roots, despite being a rising superstar. “Hometown Out Of Me” serves as a tribute to HunterGirl’s hometown of Winchester, Tennessee, and she wrote it to essentially give back to those who have supported her since the beginning.

“My hometown always supported me in music and they always came to my shows,” HunterGirl said. “I knew that I wanted to write a song for my hometown, and so I’m happy this is a thank you card for my first single for them.”

The chorus contains powerful lyrics such as, “I’m never gonna not be the same old same me everybody back there knows” and “you can take me out of my hometown, but you can’t take my hometown out of me,” which ultimately highlight HunterGirl’s ability to stay humble and true to herself, even after all of the craziness of American Idol.

Aside from being humble, HunterGirl is also very grateful and appreciative of those who have helped her with her musical journey, constantly saying thank you to those who have supported her along the way.

“All the incredible things that have happened this past year, it’s just that huge appreciation and just knowing that I wouldn’t be where I’m at without all the people who have supported me… I wanna say thank you to my hometown and just all the people that supported me this past year, because I love y’all and I wouldn’t be able to do this without you guys,” HunterGirl said.

Aside from the release of “Hometown Out Of Me,” HunterGirl is also getting ready to hit the road for a co-headlining tour with American Idol winner Noah Thompson later this month, beginning on October 27th in Columbus, Ohio.

“This tour is gonna be a lot of fun, a lot of crazy,” she said with a smile. “We’re already working on tour stuff, working on some special moments going on throughout the show, and I can’t wait to see everybody at them.”

You can catch one of HunterGirl’s upcoming tour dates to hear her new single live, but until then, be sure to listen to “Hometown Out Of Me” below and let us know what you think of the track by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
