Anthony Ramos is Making Us Lose Our Minds After Teasing New Song

Though he has had several great years in a row, 2021 is becoming the year of Anthony Ramos. While starring in In the Heights, Ramos has had a successful year with other acting and modeling gigs and is gearing up to release his sophomore album, Love and Lies, this Friday.

Today, the actor/singer took to his Twitter to announce that he has another surprise in for us on Friday.

“Givin y’all more than just an album Friday,” the tweet said. “Let me know if you wit it!”

Following the tweet was the hashtag “LOSEMYMIND,” which happens to be the second track off his album releasing that day. Could it be an accompanying music video? Or will he give us an unexpected surprise that will no doubt make us lose our minds?

Ramos has already received critical acclaim for the releases off this album. His first single, “Say Less,” was released in April and is already a fan-favorite from music critics worldwide.

No stranger to fame and praise, Ramos was an original cast member of Hamilton where he played the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. He followed that up with roles in A Star is Born, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Trolls World Tour. On television, he’s appeared on the recent Will & Grace and She’s Gotta Have It. And his first album, The Good & the Bad, debuted in the top 10 of the iTunes Pop Albums Chart in 2019.

This year is currently seeing him in his first starring film role as Usnavi in In the Heights, an adaptation of the musical written by Hamilton scribe Lin-Manuel Miranda. The movie currently has a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is easily the movie of the summer and the celebration we all need after a year and a half in quarantine.

TIME chose Ramos as one of its 2021 TIME100 Next honorees in the “Innovators” category where Leslie Odom Jr. said, “The emotional range and acting facility, the wit and wicked sense of humor, the one-in-a-millon singing voice come together within a special person whose bounty of gifts is matched with a rock-solid humanity and core of integrity. We can trust Ramos with the keys he is about to be given. He has been well-prepared. His voice matters. The space he occupies matters.”

He also stars in the HBO Max series In Treatment alongside Uzo Aduba, which premiered on May 23 and guest stars in the first season of the Starz series Blindspotting. That show is led by Ramos’ fiancé and Hamilton costar Jasmine Cephas Jones. Earlier in the year, Ramos was also a part of Calvin Klein’s Spring 2021 campaign alongside Megan Thee Stallion and Jacob Elordi.

Things will not slow down for Ramos in 2022. He’s already filmed the sci-fi comedy-drama Distant with Naomi Scott and Kristofer Hivju, and recently announced that he will lead the new Transformers film alongside Dominique Fishback coming to theaters on June 24, 2022.

Ramos became one of our favorite back when Hamilton first premiered but is continuing to show what a triple threat he is, and we cannot wait to watch his future flourish.
