BLACKPINK’s Rosé Stuns With Solo Project ‘R’

Everything is coming up roses for BLACKPINKs Rosé — she just released her highly anticipated solo debut, R, as well as a merchandise capsule to go along with it.

Rosé shared two solo songs, “On the Ground” and “Gone” on her new project, making her mark as a solo artist.

“On the Ground” is “an intimate look at the cost of ambition and chasing your dreams” and pairs so well with Rosé’s soft and distinctive vocals. Produced by frequent BLACKPINK collaborator TEDDY, as well as Jon Bellion (Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus), Jorgen (Justin Bieber, P!nk), Ojvolta (Selena Gomez, Halsey), and 24, the guitar instrumentals throughout the verses and beats during the chorus gives the song the potential to do well on the radio. The raw lyrics were co-written by Rosé along with Bellion, Amy Allen (Sam Smith, Zara Larsson), and Raul Cubina (Playboi Carti, Christina Aguilera).

Along with the track, Rosé also dropped a music video where she’s decked out in stunning looks walking through equally beautiful sets, looking like she’s contemplating life. The vibe of the music video matches that of the song, especially with all the pyro and fire used timed with the drops in the song.

The second song on the project, “Gone,” matches the pure emotional depth of “On the Ground” with its stripped-back guitar instrumentals accompanying Rosé’s emotion-filled vocals and confessional lyrics. The breakup ballad was produced by Brian Lee (BLACKPINK, Post Malone, Camila Cabello), making a track with a vibe that may already be familiar to Blinks.

The CD and vinyl editions of R include both tracks as well as instrumental versions of them. Rosé and YG Entertainment also released a merchandise capsule to commemorate her solo project, which includes posters, crewnecks, a t-shirt, a bucket hat, and more.

Rosé is set to make her late-night TV solo debut next week, March 16, on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She’ll be performing “On the Ground,” reportedly making her the first-ever South Korean soloist to perform on the show.

The girls have been killing it recently with their new campaign with Adidas, becoming Global Ambassadors for climate change, and even their member Jisoo was just announced as Dior’s Global Ambassador for their Fall/Winter collection!

We couldn’t be more excited for the girls! Congratulations to Rosé for her solo debut, we can’t wait for her performance!
