Broncos Country in “7th Heaven” as Russell Wilson Signs Extension

Denver Broncos superstar quarterback Russell Wilson has agreed to a five-year $245 million extension with the team.

Wilson is now set up to spend the next seven years of his career in a Bronco uniform as he already was under contract for two seasons. The extension was reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

With this contract, Wilson becomes the highest-paid player in Broncos history, surpassing Super Bowl champs John Elway and Peyton Manning. Like Manning, Wilson comes into Denver with a Super Bowl ring from the 2013 season when he played for the Seattle Seahawks — which was coincidentally against Manning and the Broncos.

The extension given to Wilson shows Broncos fans that their new ownership group is committed to winning. After having a high-level defense for the past couple of years, the team could not compete for championships due to their lackluster play on the offensive side of the ball and, more specifically, in the quarterback department.

By not only adding Wilson this offseason but also by giving him this extension, the team has elevated themselves up as serious Super Bowl contenders.

Wilson is not just any player; he is a player who can take your team to the next level. With a juggernaut of weapons on offense, including the two-headed monster running back duo of Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon, the Broncos have put themselves in a prime position to make a big push this season to bring another title to Mile High.

This extension comes 11 days before Wilson takes his first official snap as a Bronco. That first snap will come against the team he spent the first ten seasons of his career with, the Seattle Seahawks. That week one Monday Night Football Game will be must-watch TV for all football fans.

Now the honest discussion begins. Does the extension include a clause requiring Ciara to sing the National Anthem at each Denver Broncos home game? We shall see.
