If there’s one thing we know about Bryan Ruby, it’s that he doesn’t do halfway — whether it’s belting out country-rock anthems, hitting home runs in his former baseball career, or living his truth unapologetically. Now, with his latest single “Growin’ On Me,” he’s taking us on a raw, heartfelt journey through love, ambition, and learning to embrace the unexpected turns of life. And guess what? Celeb Secrets has the exclusive premiere of the music video!
Before he was rocking stages and writing bangers, Ruby was swinging for the fences — literally. His transition from pro baseball to music wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, but the moment he started playing late-night open mics after practice, he knew his heart belonged to country music. “We’d have two, four, maybe five or ten people there (at the very max) on the busiest nights,” he recalls to Celeb Secrets. “I absolutely loved it. That’s when I realized I needed to chase this music dream.”
And chase it he did. Fast forward to today, and he’s written hundreds of songs, played countless honky tonks, and built a fanbase that rides or dies for his heartfelt storytelling and rock-infused country sound.
“Growin’ On Me” isn’t just another love song — it’s a testament to balancing ambition with the desire to put down roots. “It’s really a statement song saying that I want to build the nest and have someone to come home to,” he explains. “At the same time, though, I’m not giving up on my dreams in music. Actually, that motivates me even more.”
Sounds like someone’s got the best of both worlds (cue the Hannah Montana theme song). But finding that balance? Still a work in progress. “There are nights where I’m out late playing a show, at an afterparty, or following the painted white lines out on the road. That’s the lifestyle. But finding some kind of balance in between all the shows is really important.”
Shot on a farm just outside of Nashville, the “Growin’ On Me” music video is packed with emotion, stunning visuals, and a little hidden gem that only the most eagle-eyed fans will catch. “There’s a hidden story in there that relates to my life, but that’s all I’m gonna tell y’all… good luck finding the diamond in the haystack!” he teases.
Not to mention, the on-screen chemistry with his co-star Colton Gelnar? Chef’s kiss. “It’s the first time I’ve been on camera with him, actually. We had great chemistry.”
And let’s talk about the country-meets-rock aesthetic! “All I was trying to do with those performance shots near the truck was say, ‘Hey, we’re on a farm but we’re rockin’ out.’” Mission accomplished.

Bryan Ruby isn’t just making waves in country music — he’s breaking barriers. When he made history as one of the first professional baseball players to come out as LGBTQ, he showed the world that authenticity and ambition can go hand in hand. “That was a risky moment but definitely a defining one. It showed me that you just gotta be who you are and live your truth, and good things will happen.”
Now, as he continues to carve his path in Nashville, he’s all about one thing: writing songs that matter. “The storytelling has to come from a very real place in order to connect. Regardless of genre or style — those are always evolving — the storytelling has to come from the heart.”
With over 40 songwriting cuts under his belt, Bryan is no stranger to crafting hits. But “Growin’ On Me” is special. “This one’s special because it’s my true story. It’s a real reflection of my life, and those personal songs always hit a little closer to home.”
So what’s next? Well, he’s manifesting big things. More music, bigger stages, and, of course, continuing to inspire fans with his journey. “I’ve grown so much—confidence in my ability as a performer, as a vocalist, as a songwriter. I’m always trying to get a little better, each and every day.”
We love to see it.
