Historians may know “Festa Day” as a celebration of Italy’s abolishing of the monarchy. But to K-Pop enthusiasts and BTS fans, the first week of June holds other significance.
The Bangtan Boys (better known as BTS) is a seven-member South Korean boy band. They dropped their debut album in 2013 and have gained a loyal fan base all over the world since then.“Festa Day” is celebrated once a year, when the band joins their fans in commemorating their anniversary.
Taking place over the span of two weeks, BTS is set to release never-before-seen content, pictures, special songs, interviews, and more. Why is there so much attention around this international pop group? Because of their ARMY.
The “ARMY,” was the term assigned to their community several albums ago. Their success can be accredited to three things – subject matter, dancing, and social media.
Unlike other K-Pop artists, their lyrics focus on coming-of-age issues, individualism, and mental health. Their meticulous dance routines and impressive choreography adds to their flare as well. Social media has provided them with the opportunity to share their content with fans all over the world.
Most recently their song “Butter” made No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “The song marks the superstar South Korean septet’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1, all in the last nine months, marking any act’s quickest accumulation of four initial leaders since Justin Timberlake a decade-and-a-half ago. Among groups, BTS has landed its first four No. 1s the fastest since the Jackson 5 in 1970,” shares Billboard.
