Budding Country Crooner Noah Hicks Shares Favorite Moments from Making “Fire” Duet with Labelmate Shaylen (Exclusive)

Noah Hicks is teaming up with fellow Nashville newcomer Shaylen to “get love right” in their new single “Second Time Around.”

Available on all music streaming platforms via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment today (August 30), the new track is a thought-provoking, stirring duet about an ex-couple that recounts the pitfalls of their former relationship that led to its eventual demise, wondering whether they could get it right if given a second chance.

Written by Hicks alongside Zach Abend, Jessi Alexander and Jeremy Stover, “Second Time Around (ft. Shaylen)” strikes a pitch-perfect balance between the painful weight of the couple’s regrets and their hopeful optimism about what the future could hold. It begs the question, “is this all just a well-meaning wish, or could the second time around really make all the difference?” Hicks’ rasp-laced tone is complemented beautifully Shaylen’s powerhouse vocals as they take turns acknowledging their individual wrongdoings from the past and yearning for a second chance to get it right.

Teasing the song to Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder during CMA Fest 2024 back in June, the Carrollton, GA native shared what it was like working with his uber-talented labelmate.

“I don’t know if you’ve heard of an artist named Shaylen, but she’s gonna feature on a song with me and it’s fire. I’m telling you… it’s really good,” Noah told Celeb Secrets with excitement at the time.

Beaming from ear to ear when describing the song, the now Nashville-based crooner couldn’t point out a specific memory from making it, as the two instantly clicked thanks to their similar, boisterous personalities.

“When she sang the song, I went into the studio with her and — I wouldn’t say I helped her with it because she don’t need no help — but just meeting her, I was like, ‘wow, we’re very similar people.’ Our personalities are both boisterous,” he revealed.

Both Noah Hicks and Shaylen are on the lineup for a free multi-artist concert in downtown Nashville on September 13 as a part of FREEDOM FRIDAY events kicking off the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix weekend (September 13-15). Both performers are also on the bill for the September 14 show at the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix located at Nashville Superspeedway.
