Amazon’s award-winning series Transparent is set to have Caitlyn Jenner guest star on their upcoming third season. Within the past year, Jenner has quickly become one of the most prominent trans people in the country.
At the GLAAD Media Awards, creator Jill Soloway was so excited about Jenner making an appearance. “We are all part of the same community,” Soloway explains. “A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show, I Am Cait. Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.”
Transparent is right up Jenner’s ally however many are concerned that her guest appearance may not be up to par with the show’s talented ensemble. In addition, her show “I Am Cait” had a flopping season two premiere with just 745,000 views, down more than 500,000 from it’s first season finale. Therefor, it leaves the question of wether her five seconds of fame is over.
The series follows the Pfefferman family after Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) comes out, dealing with gender, relationships, and prejudice. Last year, Transparent won five Emmys, including Best Actor for Tambor and Best Directing for Soloway. Details about Jenner’s character are being kept under wraps but she begins filming this week.
