Accio! Get your wands and school trunks ready because it looks like we might be able to get on the Hogwarts Express again.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that HBO Max is in early, early development for a Harry Potter live-action TV series. It seems that the streaming service executives are in talks will various potential writers to explore “various ideas that would bring the beloved property to television.”
The Harry Potter Franchise is one of Warner Bros.’ most valued, considering the feature films alone grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. So being able to expand the world of Harry Potter is one of HBO Max and Warner Bros.’ priorities.
It’s a no-brainer that a Harry Potter TV series would be an absolute hit but HBO Max and Warner Bros. told THR that “there are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,” so there’s still a lot of time before we get any official news (if any!).
Now the potential of being able to go back onto Hogwarts grounds is creating a bit of a buzz on social media. Though many are more than happy and loving towards the franchise itself, others also don’t want there to be new content considering author J.K. Rowling would be earning profits from it.
JK Rowling will profit from any and all new Harry Potter-related media. If you spend money consuming that media, you are giving JK Rowling money. That's it. That's the tweet.

wanting more Harry Potter content but not wanting jk Rowling to make any money off it pic.twitter.com/719wM9v8n6

J.K. Rowling has been under fire on social media for the past couple of months after some controversial tweets she posted about the transgender community. So much so that not only have fans spoken up against her but so have Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne.
There’s also the side of Twitter that would much rather have a TV series for the deemed “underrated” Percy Jackson book series by Rick Riordan––which we have no problems with if they get Logan Lerman back on board, heart eyes for days!

People are also more than happy with the Harry Potter content we already have and don’t want anything to ruin the way they closed off the featured films.
Harry Potter was already ….. live action https://t.co/FzDDOKgKEq

The Harry Potter franchise has already giving us so much content I don’t see why a streaming series is even necessary…. who’s starving for more content? 😭😭
