A new year means a new season of The Really Loud House, and the Loud family is back and better than ever for even more hilarious adventures in the town of Royal Woods.
Just last week, fans were able to get a taste of what fans can expect from the hit live action series’ second season thanks to the “A Musical To Remember” special, which follows Lincoln Loud (played by Wolfgang Schaeffer) and his best friend Clyde McBride’s (played by Jahzir Bruno) latest adventure that suddenly goes awry when Lincoln accidentally eats some memory-erasing jelly beans. After learning that music can help jog a person’s memory, the Louds work together to bring Lincoln’s memory back before it’s too late.
“Season 2 kicked off with a special premiere episode ‘A Musical to Remember’ with over 20 songs and dancing. Aubin and I have been dancing and singing since we were literally two so it is fun to use our musical talents on the series and the fans really love the musical episodes. Aubin and I reunite in a tap number that is ‘vaudeville’ inspired and is just hilarious and was so much fun to film. I literally crack open watermelons and lose half my teeth by the end of the number – thanks to Aubin!” Catherine Bradley, who plays Luan Loud, tells Celeb Secrets in an exclusive interview.
“[Catherine] actually choreographed the tap-off and it was so much fun learning and working with my sister and then actually filming it. The scene was incredible, so getting to do another tap number where we sing also was the best,” Aubin Bradley, who plays Lucy Loud, adds. “This musical number called ‘Okie Dokie’ where we tap is almost a continuation of that battle, but let’s just say it got a little more violent.”
But beginning today (February 28) new episodes of The Really Loud House return to Nickelodeon, and the girls says its not only “theatrical, silly, and eventful” but also “hilarious, exciting, and heartwarming.”
According to the network, the comedic chaos of the Loud family will continue this season as viewers will see their kitchen mysteriously catches on fire, Lincoln and Clyde ending up in a hot air balloon, the youngest sisters attempting to go out and adventure on their own and more.
Celeb Secrets caught up with Catherine and Aubin to learn more about The Really Loud House season two, where they shared their favorite memories from filming, dream episodes, and more. Keep scrolling for the full Q&A and don’t forget to tune into the season two premiere of The Really Loud House TONIGHT, February 28th @ 7PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
Celeb Secrets: We’re so happy to see the Loud Family back on our TV screens! How excited are you to get back into your roles for a new season of “The Really Loud House?”
Catherine Bradley: “Aubin and I were so excited to head back to New Mexico. We actually went back for a few weeks in December right after Thanksgiving and then returned in early January.”
Aubin Bradley: “We did not film this fall while the strikes were happening, and I know I really missed playing Lucy.”
Catherine Bradley: “And of course, I missed playing Luan and especially missed my puppet, Mr. Coconuts, but we were reunited!”
CS: Can you describe the moment when you both returned to set? What was the dynamic like filming these new episodes with your castmates?
AB: “I think being away for so many months made all of the cast and crew really appreciate what we have together. It is really special. When Cat and I arrived, there were a lot of tears and hugs.”
CB: “I agree. We all realized how lucky we were to be back doing what we love – making kids laugh around the world! So, filming was extra special for these new episodes. I feel like everyone really put their entire heart into it. We all just had so much fun!”
CS: Before the big premiere, fans were treated to a special musical episode. Can you tell us more about it and share some of your best memories from filming?
CB: “Season 2 kicked off with a special premiere episode ‘A Musical to Remember’ with over 20 songs and dancing. Aubin and I have been dancing and singing since we were literally two so it is fun to use our musical talents on the series and the fans really love the musical episodes. Aubin and I reunite in a tap number that is ‘vaudeville’ inspired and is just hilarious and was so much fun to film. I literally crack open watermelons and lose half my teeth by the end of the number – thanks to Aubin!”
AB: “So in Season 1, Cat’s and my character (Luan and Lucy) literally have a ‘tap-off” in the attic. It was literally one of my favorite moments on set in the first season when I worked with Cat to create the ‘tap-off’ battle between our characters, Lucy and Luan. Catherine actually choreographed the tap-off and it was so much fun learning and working with my sister and then actually filming it. The scene was incredible. So getting to do another tap number where we sing also was the best. This musical number (called ‘Okie Dokie’) where we tap is almost a continuation of that battle but let’s just say it gets a little more violent, but don’t worry Luan survives!!!”
CS: We know that the episode has a soundtrack that features original songs inspired by lots of different sounds. What were some of your favorite songs to work on and why?
AB: “My favorite songs to record and dance to were of course ‘Okie Dokie’ with Cat and me, but I also loved ‘Clincoln McCloud’ because we got to wear the coolest gold outfits and the dance was so cool!”
CB: ‘I loved ‘Knock-Em Loose.‘ Aubin and I got to dress up as cheerleaders and do flips and other acrobatics. It reminded me of that song ‘O Mickey.’ I also loved the country western number!!”
CS: How have your characters grown from season 1 to season 2? What can we expect from Lucy and Luan in these upcoming episodes?
CB: “The first season was amazing, and it really started to introduce each of the characters and what makes them special and unique. I think fans are going to love Season 2 even more because we really go deeper into each of the sisters. My character, Luan, the comedian extraordinaire and prankster, starts to really become a teen, maybe meets a special boy (spoiler alert) and does the other typical teen stuff, but of course in Luan Loud’s unique and hilarious way!”
AB: “My character, Lucy Loud, lover of all dark and supernatural, is also growing up. The cartoon kept the family in a time warp, never really growing up, and our series shows us progressing through time. In Season 2, Lucy starts to stretch herself and let’s just say, she tries some new things and is open to new types of friends! She also goes through the typical middle-school drama which I think fans will relate too.”
CS: If you could describe season two of “The Really Loud House” in three words, what would they be?
AB: “Theatrical, Silly, Eventful.”
CB: “Hilarious, Exciting, Heartwarming.”
CS: What do you love most about playing Lucy and Luan Loud?
CB: “I love playing Luan because she is such a dynamic person who can go from a total prankster, stand-up comedian, ventriloquist, theatre geek to a master of disguises. They are episodes where the fans did not realize until the very end that I was Peter Built, a truck driver from the deep South with road rage, or Johnny Sleepover, a hobo who travels from sleepover to sleepover. In portraying Luan, there is a little SNL skit vibe and Lucille Ball inspiration going on as well as a ton of myself. Bringing a character who is so fun and just so comfortable being true to her quirky self is such a rewarding experience for me.”
AB: “So playing the role of Lucy Loud is a dream. I get to bring demons to life, hold seances, fight with skeleton sticks, jump scare everyone, and travel through dimensions. And I do all of this with almost no emotion (or at least not letting others see what Lucy is really thinking.) What has also been fun is showing her mischievous side and her loving side. These are parts of me that I have brought to Lucy in the live action version. I also have learned to act with the bottom half of my face – my mouth. You never see my eyes, so I have learned to portray a lot with very little! I have also learned to dance and do acrobatics without being able to see!”
CS: Do you have a favorite episode that you can’t wait for people to see?
AB: “Se we actually just finished filming one where the little sisters get into a lot of trouble and have a night out. We filmed a lot at night and it was the best!”
CB: “So I have an upcoming episode where Luan is a mime and maybe develops a big crush.”
CS: If you could put together your dream episode of The Really Loud House, what would the story line be and would you have any guest stars?
CB: “I would love to do an episode with Will Ferrell where we battle impersonations trying to maybe win a three day scavenger hunt and different skits and then maybe we end up teaming together at the end! I also have this crazy idea of a valentine movie that is a play on ‘A Midsummers Night Dream,’ where I play the mischievous fairy Puck and cause crazy drama mixing up the sisters’ couples!”
AB: “I have so many ideas, but would love to do an episode kind of like “A Christmas Carol”, where I travel with the ghosts and take my family into our past, present and future. I also would love to guest star with my sister, Alex Bradley, where she plays Lucy’s angel alter-ego. She would be the blonde sweet bubbly version of Lucy, but actually not be so nice! Kind of never judge a book by its cover kind of story line.”
CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any behind-the-scenes secrets from filming season two that we wouldn’t know just by watching?
AB: “So in Season 1 and the movies, I use my real hair and dye it black, or actually the darkest shade of brown, and the bangs are not real. In Season 2, I finally got a wig and you cannot tell the difference!”
CB: “Well, in Season 2, Luan has some boy drama and that boy is played by . . . drumroll please . . . Merrick Hanna!”
