The streets of LA were on fire this weekend, and no, it wasn’t just the SoCal sun — Red Bull Dance Your Style took over Downtown Los Angeles with an epic kickoff event on Sunday (March 9), and Celeb Secrets was in the building to catch all the action!
Hosted by none other than celebrated dancer and choreographer Storm DeBarge, the event marked the start of the 2025 Red Bull Dance Your Style season with high-energy battles, street dance legends, Black-owned businesses, and a whole lot of West Coast flavor. With no set choreography, no judges, and no-preplanned music, it was all about pure freestyle magic—and trust us, the energy was unreal.
For Storm, this year’s launch was personal. “What makes this year’s launch extra special is because it is in LA,” she told Celeb Secrets exclusively at the event. “I’m from LA, and you know, the dance community here is really important, especially because of the hip-hop aspect of it. So now that we’re bringing it here, and we’re actually in the city, it’s very important.”

The battles were fierce, the beats were unpredictable, and the crowd was fully in charge of choosing the winner. After an intense final showdown, Sacramento native Mosi took home the win, defeating Koncept in the Finals after battling Short Circuit and Taktic. The top four dancers — Mosi, Koncept, Short Circuit, and Taktic — now advance to the city qualifier in Salt Lake City on July 18 for their next shot at glory.
So what does it take to dominate a Red Bull Dance Your Style battle? Confidence, adaptability, and crowd connection, according to Storm. “Make sure that you’re ready for whatever song plays, because you should be able to dance to any song that comes on,” she advised. “Make sure you’re interacting with the crowd and having good energy. A good attitude about it is very important as well.”

More than just a competition, the event was a full-blown cultural celebration. Teaming up with Black on The Block, Red Bull Dance Your Style created the ultimate block party experience — complete with Black-owned businesses, local food and drinks, and an electrifying atmosphere that showcased the depth of LA’s creative scene.
“For me, it was important to bring Red Bull to Black on The Block,” Storm shared. “I’ve been to Black on The Block a couple times, and I thought it would be really cool to have Red Bull come and do this because they also need to experience the dancing they see on Instagram in real life and respect real dancers. And then Red Bull dancers get to experience Black on The Block, which is all about street culture and styles. It’s cool to blend them together.”

The 2025 Red Bull Dance Your Style season is officially underway, and it’s bigger than ever. The U.S. National Final goes down in San Francisco on August 23, hosted by Super Bowl halftime choreographer Charm La’Donna. But the real history-making moment? For the first time ever, the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final is coming to the U.S., taking over the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on October 11.
Storm couldn’t be more excited to see her city take center stage on the global dance scene. “Everything that’s been going on with Kendrick Lamar and the music scene, people are really starting to get more insight into what LA culture and the dance culture is,” she explained. “It’s crazy that we’re here now, and everyone gets to experience it and feel it.”
So, which dancers does she have her eye on this season? “I always say David (The Crown) because David really be out here eating it up,” she teased. “I don’t know if he’s competing or not, but I’m excited to see all of the Red Bull Dance Your Style dancers come out, because there’s a lot of good ones.”

If Storm herself were to step into the Red Bull Dance Your Style ring, what song would she absolutely SLAY to? “‘Yay Area’ by E-40 because I would show you exactly who Storm is,” she said with a smirk. And honestly? We believe it.
As for what she’s hoping to see more of in battles this season? “I would definitely like to see some real, respected clown dancing going on,” she revealed. “Some real trained clown dancers being a part of this situation.”

From LA to Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and beyond, the Red Bull Dance Your Style season is heating up, and if the kickoff event was any indication, we’re in for some serious talent, legendary moments, and a whole lot of freestyle fire.
Will Mosi and the other finalists rise to the top? Who will dominate the dance floor in San Francisco’s National Final? And most importantly, who will be crowned the best freestyle dancer in the world when the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final lands in LA this October?
One thing’s for sure — the world is about to witness the raw power of street dance like never before.
