A fresh new sound is on the horizon and it is coming straight from budding artist Luke Borchelt. The Maryland native, who recently wrapped up a tour with Shaboozey, is stepping into the spotlight creating his own music that’ll be sure to captivate his growing fanbase.
Despite the newfound spotlight, pursuing music has always been a core part of Bochelt’s life, a passion he first found in his hometown Riva, Maryland.
“My dad and grandfather sang in our Methodist church, my mom was a word junkie. We spelled and did crosswords for fun, I learned to love to write,” Luke tells Celeb Secrets exclusively.
“I think pursuing music is a persistent itch I’ve always had. I spent time checking it out, I spent time trying to get it to go away. Now, I know for sure it’s what I’m here to do.”
The singer shared with us that transitioning into a solo artist after seven years performing in another project has been a major transition, but one he’s excited to embrace. With his second tour under his belt and connecting with fans from all over, Luke is now diving into new projects that showcase his own unique sound.
“I learned how to play guitar two years ago and that changed everything. Once I had creative control, I knew it was me, it should have my name on it,” he reveals.
His time on Shaboozey’s Where I Am Isn’t Where I’m Going tour came to a close after 13 performances that kicked off in September, and for Borchelt it was a life-changing experience.
“Shaboozey is the pinnacle. He’s from where I’m from, he worked tirelessly through the industry until this moment. I’d do anything to get quality time with him, but to be able to play alongside him and open for him was unreal.”
And of course, unforgettabe memories were also made.
“Shaboozey let me wear his “Cowboys Live Forever” chain for the night in Chicago. I don’t know who was more afraid, me or his security. I felt like I had the Mona Lisa around my neck,” he recalls.
The Maryland-born artist finds his creative spark in the sounds of multiple icons, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Frank Ocean, and Tyler Childers. When it comes to songwriting the singer opened up about his creative process, calling his music a “journal of life experiences” focusing on storytelling and themes of relationships of personal growth.
“I usually start with an image, something that shows without telling, something I noticed in daily life. Then I’m in a world and pick my characters, usually out of a story in my own life,” he shares.
With reaching over 1.5 million streams on Spotify so far in his career, this is just the beginning for the budding star. Looking ahead, he’s focused on creating more music his family, friends, and fans can be proud of while also staying true to himself along the way.
“You’ll hear more about Maryland and a boy who can’t handle the city anymore,” he teased.
