Charli xcx Is Giving Us a “Wink Wink” With New Single Ahead of Her Next Era (Listen)

Charli xcx has another little surprise for us — and this one comes with a “Wink Wink” 😉.

The pop superstar is officially back with a brand-new single, “Wink Wink, giving fans another taste of what’s to come from her highly anticipated new album, Music, Fashion, Film, arriving July 24.

Released Thursday (June 25), “Wink Wink” marks the latest preview of Charli’s next era, following the previously released tracks ‘“SS26” and “Rock Music.” The new track also arrives with a music video directed by Aidan Zamiri, who is behind the striking visual world surrounding the album.

And if the song titles and visuals are any indication, Charli is clearly not interested in playing it safe this time around.

Music, Fashion, Film is shaping up to be another genre — and culture — bending chapter for the Grammy and BRIT Award-winning artist, who has made a career out of turning pop music into a full-on visual and creative universe. The album’s artwork, photographed by Zamiri, features none other than John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese, perfectly matching the project’s anything-goes title.

Of course, Charli isn’t keeping all of this new music tucked away in our headphones for long.

The singer will hit the road this fall for her Music, Fashion, Film Tour, bringing her latest era to arenas across North America throughout September and October. The Live Nation-promoted trek includes two nights at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and two nights at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, with underscores joining Charli as special guest on all dates.

Translation: if “Wink Wink” has you ready to scream the lyrics with your besties under arena lights, now is the time to make those fall plans.

Charli’s tour will kick off its arena run in Philadelphia on September 11, before making stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, San Diego, Los Angeles, Glendale and Las Vegas. She’ll also make festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading Festival, Leeds Festival and Austin City Limits throughout the summer and fall.

Fans can purchase tickets to the Music, Fashion, Film Tour now, while Charli has also introduced her “Angel Tickets,”offering a limited number of $20 tickets for select shows. Those tickets will become available in August, with more details to come.

There’s plenty happening in Charli’s world beyond music, too. This week, the star attended the Saint Laurent Men’s Fashion Show in Paris, co-hosted the official after-party alongside Madonna, and continued her In Conversation series with photographer Petra Collins.

Because, naturally, a Charli xcx era is never just about the music.

With “Wink Wink” now officially out, Music, Fashion, Film only a month away and an arena tour waiting in the wings, Charli xcx is making it very clear that her next chapter is going to be one to watch.
