It’s been 25 years since Christina Aguilera released her debut album and she’s celebrating its legacy in the best way possible.
The “Genie In A Bottle” singer has followed up her 2022 album, Aguilera, with a reimagining of her first album, Christina Aguilera. The 25th Anniversary of Christina Aguilera was released this week on Spotify, and to commemorate the milestone, the 43-year-old hosted a sunset listening party at EDITION in Los Angeles on Monday (September 23).
Aguilera’s self-titled album was originally released in 1999 boasting hits such as “Genie in a Bottle,” “I Turn to You,” and “What a Girl Wants,” and it was certainly an iconic introduction to the silky pop singer we know today.
The luxury West Hollywood hotel hosted Aguilera as well as a private group of guests to enjoy the EP. Guests watched the sunset as they sipped on Grey Goose cocktails, and tasted sweet treats, and visited a glam station presented by Clarins.
The leadup to the EP itself has generated much buzz over social media, as Aguilera has been spotted comfortably sitting next to artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, covering her early hits. These live covers have made their way on to the new EP, with its two guest features being “Genie in a Bottle” with MGK and “What A Girl Wants” featuring Sabrina Carpenter. The EP ends on a tender note, with a re-working of Aguilera’s song “Reflection” originally written for the animated Disney film, Mulan in 1998.
Aguilera celebrating her journey to stardom is not only rewarding for early fans of the singer, but for Aguilera herself, putting a new spin on timeless classics.
