Cynthia Erivo Sparks Magic When Unveiling OPI’s New Wicked Collaboration During New York Fashion Week

The countdown is ON for the most anticipated movie of the year, Wicked, and OPI is getting us excited to enter the Land of Oz thanks to their latest collaboration.

The nail brand unleashed magic on Thursday (September 5) when they revealed their limited edition collection inspired by the film, and the Celeb Secrets gals were one of the lucky few to score an invite into the exclusive preview event in New York City.

Taking place at Somewhere, Nowhere, the rooftop venue truly encapsulated what we envision Oz to look like with a metropolitan twist. With the sun setting over a stunning NYC skyline, fairy lights and a ton of green props, we were able to see all of the of the spell-binding glow-in-the-dark effects, shimmers, pearls, creams and press-ons the new collaboration has to offer before it hits stores on October 1.

GRAMMY, Emmy and Tony Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actress, singer, songwriter, producer — and Wicked star Cynthia Erivo even made an appearance to give more insight on the collection that’s inspired by her character Elphaba. She also spoke more about her new role as the Global Brand Ambassador for OPI before mingling with Celeb Secrets CEO Juliet Schroder at the event.

In a press release, OPI states that Erivo will continue to showcase nails as a vehicle for aesthetic expression, sharing her own personal narrative through creative nail art looks while incorporating shades from the upcoming OPI x Wicked collection while being the Global Brand Ambassador.

“Nail art offers a lovely way to express what I’m feeling, at any particular moment in time,” explains Erivo. “It’s an extension of the story I want to tell and an extension of who I am. With length, or color, or design, you can show people a little bit of who you are.”

“There’s also something really fun about being able to catch someone’s eye with nails,” Erivo adds. “Nail art is so expressive. You can keep your nails very simple, or you can make them very extravagant, very fun, very crazy. You can pierce them, you can put jewels on them—the scope of what you can do with nails has always interested me, and I’m excited to share my inspirations and favorite nail looks with OPI fans around the world.”

OPI’m Phosphorescent!, a glow-in-the-dark green, is available in Infinite Shine. New limited edition xPRESS/ON press-on styles include one of Elphaba’s looks straight from the film—Know Your Power, a green and black set with glow-in-the-dark peek-a-boo color under the nails.
