Kim Kardashian West is now just Kim Kardashian. The 41-year-old was legally declared single from rapper Kanye “Ye” West on Wednesday (March 2) by a Los Angeles judge.
According to TMZ, who broke the news, Kim attended the hearing via a video call. Her attorney, Laura Wasser, and Kanye’s new attorney, Samantha Spector, were both at the court hearing. Kanye “Ye” was not in attendance.
On Wednesday, the judge officially decided to restore Kim’s single status by immediately ending the marriage. He did, however, hold off on the couple’s assets and custody questions. Those will be discussed at a later date.
According to the outlet, Kanye’s attorney did not disagree with the restoration of Kim’s single status. Kanye’s lawyer did have several conditions but only one was agreed upon with the judge. The condition that was agreed upon was that “any right to get reimbursement of money that’s supposed to be divided up will be preserved in the case either of them dies.”
The couple was married for seven years and had four children: North (8), Saint (6), Chicago (4), and Psalm (2) before Kim filed for divorce in February of 2021. At first, the couple seemed to be co-parenting and handling the divorce in private.
In the past couple of months, Kanye has taken to social media in a frenzy to declare his love for Kim and share his dislike for her new beau, Pete Davidson. These social media postings caused Kim to continue the process of divorce. It was just last week that Kim continued her filing and CNN reported that in those documents Kim said that Kanye is causing her “emotional distress.”
As much as Kanye has tried to stop this from happening, it looks like the rapper may have to face the music as Kim continues with divorce.
