Dierks Bentley Finds the Silver Lining in the Forced Two Year Hiatus of Seven Peaks Music Festival

Dierks Bentley is ready to take on 2022 like the last two years never happened, as he’s making new music, going on tour, topping charts, and putting all beers on him.

Most importantly, though, the award-winning entertainer is bringing back his beloved Seven Peaks Music Festival this Labor Day Weekend (Sept 2-4, 2022) after a two-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic that shut the world down in 2020.

“It was devastating to lose [Seven Peaks] in 2020,” Bentley told Celeb Secrets reporter Blakely McHugh in a media session earlier this week. “I lost the Hot Country Kights album and I also lost Seven Peaks, which is my little baby. So to lose it again in 2021 when other major festivals were going on and ours wasn’t, that was kind of tough.”

Teaming up with Live Nation, the 2022 Seven Peaks Music Festival will move to Villa Grove, CO in the San Luis Valley with a stellar lineup that was revealed today (April 13). Featuring headlining performances from Bentley and Morgan Wallen, the three-day fest will also include sets from Boy Named Banjo, Ashley Cooke, Jordan Davis, Jackson Dean, Travis Denning, HARDY,  Kendell Marvel, Ashley McBryde, Old Crow Medicine Show, Caitlyn Smith, Rapidgrass, Alana Springsteen and Lainey Wilson

Friday night of the festival will kick off with a special stacked lineup of 90’s acts including Hot Country KnightsTracy Lawrence, The Frontmen and Pam Tillis, while AYDAMN will be deejaying throughout the weekend.

When asking Dierks about the location change, he told Celeb Secrets that the fest’s 2021 cancellation had a major role in deciding where to bring the three-day event for 2022. Just like in 2018 and 2019, Seven Peaks was supposed to happen in Buena Vista, CO, but unfortunately was canceled a month after the lineup was revealed due to capacity restrictions.

“That was kind of the thing that made us want to move locations,” Bentley said referring to the 2021 cancellation.

This year, everything is looking on track. Bentley has been hard at work planning the festival, working on the infrastructure, talking about campsites, parking and all the logistical components it takes to put on an event of this scale. Not to mention, figuring out a lineup that encompasses bluegrass artists, mainstream country performers, and 90’s stars.

“You want the quality to be good and just that people will come out there and know that the thought has gone into making it a really good festival,” he says.

There was uncertainty on whether the festival would come back after it was canceled for a second time. It had lost money two years in a row and was on a trajectory to make that back last year before the sudden cancelation. But despite the setbacks, Bentley says he’s grateful for the opportunity to put on another event for the fans, and he’s looking at this renewed opportunity in a positive light.

“When you’ve been doing this as long as I have, sometimes it’s hard to find that new thing that keeps it fresh and exciting,” Bentley said. “[The] opportunity to launch it successfully again is pretty cool because it felt pretty good the first two years and to have a chance to start all over again, and hopefully turn it into something that lasts for a long time, is a unique opportunity.”
