The Los Angeles Dodgers have done it again; the team has clinched their 9th division title in the last ten seasons. They will look to continue their reign as the best team in baseball into the playoffs, which start next month.
The Dodgers clinched the NL West division title in a 4-0 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. On the day they clinched the division, none other than Clayton Kershaw was their starting pitcher. Kershaw is not only one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history but has also been a staple for the Dodgers throughout his entire career. Kershaw allowed no runs and struck out five batters in seven innings of work, an excellent outing for the future Hall of Famer.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Dodgers were led by 2021 World Series Champion Freddie Freeman, All-Star Max Muncy, and former Yankee Joey Gallo; the three of them each hit a home run which combined for all four Dodgers runs as Gallo’s home run came with a man on base.
The Dodgers have the best record in baseball, with the second-best record coming from the Houston Astros, who have the best record in the American League.
With the season winding down, we shall wait and see if LA can continue their consistent ways in the playoffs, especially without their ace, Walker Buehler; Buehler had season-ending Tommy John surgery back in August.
