Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are all coming back to our screens very soon!
Variety announced the live-action adaption of The Powerpuff Girls! The development of the live-action cartoon series was first revealed back in August and the pilot order was discussed in March of 2021.
The announcement was met with excitement and disbelief, especially from older fans who grew up watching the show. Audiences hope to preserve the characters that grew up close to them and want to ensure the series is well done. The network feels the same way and has ultimately decided to reshoot its pilot.

“The pilot didn’t work,” says CW CEO, Mark Pedowitz. “Tonally, it might’ve felt a little too campy. It didn’t feel as rooted in reality as it might’ve felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out.”
Dove Cameron, set to star as Bubbles, spoke out about the matter earlier this week to Entertainment Tonight. She admitted the reshoot was not “because the script was leaked,” but because of how important it was for them to “get it right.”
“It’s a really big piece of IP, and it’s tonally very specific. Like getting it right, making everybody happy, and also making sure that it translates,” she tells them.
“To modernize it and to make it fit like, a bunch of different things that don’t normally go together, it’s just kind of like a puzzle piece. So we’re removing some elements and we’re replacing others. I think the script is going to get another whack, and it’s just going to be a slightly different approach but everything else is going to stay the same.”

Audiences might have to wait a little longer for the reveal, but Cameron couldn’t be more excited.
“It’s just exactly what I would want it to be, honestly. I cannot say enough good things about the show and the character,” she continues. “So I’m very, very excited. I’m very excited to have everybody see how it’s [coming] together. I mean, what is more fun than flying around Townsville and having it look like Townsville and fighting… I can’t say what we’re fighting, but what’s more fun than that? That’s the coolest job ever.”
