Erin Reese Isn’t Letting Hollywood Phase Her In New Single “Hometown Heart” (Listen)

Country-pop singer and social media star Erin Reese is getting ready to add another skill to her resume. Along with singing, acting, modeling, and dancing, Reese is now dabbling in songwriting with her latest single “Hometown Heart.”

Reese’s latest tune, which dropped on Sunday (Feb. 21), which was co-written by Grammy-nominated songwriter Jamie Floyd (previously worked with Kesha and Kelly Clarkson) and YNG1NC (previously worked with Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato).

This would be the first song that Reese has been involved in as far as writing goes. When talking about the experience, the singer shared that it was a great learning experience for her.

“It was an amazing experience being my first time,” she says. “My management team could not have put a better writing & producing team together for a novice like me.”

Writing the sweet, perfect country-pop tune, “Hometown Heart,” allowed Reese to open up about her path in her career and how she managed to stay true to herself and with a head on her shoulders throughout the years.

“It’s a personal song, continuing on about my journey in the industry,” she shares. “No matter where I go, I always remember where I came from, my heart is always at home.”

The Chicken Girls star is also set to release four other singles within the next few months. She stated that three of the four are definitely country songs with one of them being “more twangy and fun than the others.” The fifth single will be a Christian song, which would be the singer’s first in the genre.

“I have recently opened up about my Christianity publicly and feel it’s important to have more positive music, with clean lyrics that uplifts listeners without feeling preached to,” Reese says.

Reese has shared before that she plans on creating songs for the Christian music genre because she appreciates songs that tell stories and that people can relate to.

Though she didn’t share whether or not she’d be releasing an album this year, the star reassures that she’s got a lot of great things in store for 2021.

What’s your favorite line from “Hometown Heart?” Send it to us on Twitter @celebsecrets and leave your reaction to how the song makes you feel down below!

Celeb Secrets: You sing, act, model, dance, you do it all. Were you always interested in the business or what first got you interested in the entertainment/modeling business?

Erin Reese: “I started as a model for print and everything kinda evolved from there. Dancing was something suggested by my agent at the time to get over my shyness, soon it became my passion.”

CS: Out of the four, which do you enjoy doing the most?

E: “I get asked this so much and it’s so hard to answer because I love them all equally.”

CS: Specifically talking about your music, what sparked the interest to start making music?

E: “I started performing locally in musical theater attending summer camps, then classed weekly. One of the directors asked my mom if she ever considered putting me into vocal lessons. My mom’s response was, ‘Oh no, is she that bad?’ the director laughed and said, ‘No, she is natural.’ Things took off from there and then while out in California I began lessons with Griffith Frank who wrote my first few songs.”

CS: You just dropped your single, “Hometown Heart,” and it’s the first song you’ve dabbled writing for. How was that experience for you?

E: “It was an amazing experience being my first time. My management team could not have put a better writing & producing team together for a novice like me. I truly learned a lot. YNG1NCE has written for Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber. Jamie Floyd is a Grammy-nominated songwriter this year for Kesha’s new song ‘Relentless,’ as well as, was on the writing team with Kelly Clarkson for Jake Hoot, who won The Voice this past year. His new song ‘I Would’ve Loved You’ is topping the country charts currently.”

CS: Can you tell us the inspiration behind “Hometown Heart?”

E: “It’s a personal song, continuing on about my journey in the industry. No matter where I go I always remember where I came from, my heart is always at home.”

CS: What message do you hope your listeners and followers get after listening to your song?

E: “To stay humble, be who you are and not someone others think you should be.”

CS: What was it like writing with Jamie Floyd and YNG1NC?

E: “As I mentioned previously, an amazing experience. Both brought so much knowledge and experience to the table. I could not have asked for a better writing team. They took their time, using my thoughts from journaling and experiences to put into lyrics and share my story.”

CS: You’re set to release four other singles in the next few months, can you give us any spoilers on those? What will they be about? Who’d you work with?

E: “Well, three are country songs, one of which is a bit more twangy and fun than the others. Another is my first Christian-based song, which I am really excited about. I have recently opened up about my Christianity publicly and feel it’s important to have more positive music, with clean lyrics that uplifts listeners without feeling preached to.”

CS: What does a day at the recording studio look like for you?

E: “Lots of silliness I am not going to lie! We get down to business but there are a lot of laughs along the way, especially when I’m in the booth recording making goofy sounds and it’s all being recorded. My producer Sean Rogers is amazing. He included some of the laughs and such in my songs.”

CS: You’re a country-pop artist but you’ve mentioned that you’re working towards the Christian music genre because you like telling stories and releasing music that people can relate to. Whose music do you enjoy listening to that does that?

E: “Lauren Diagle is the queen! We call her the Christian Adele. She is so amazing I can’t say enough a real inspiration!”

CS: What are your career goals for 2021? Can we expect an EP or LP from you this year?

E: “I am continuing to audition so hoping to book something soon, in the meantime, I fill my days continuing to dance & compete while working on my music. It’s truly all in God’s hands. I have been extremely blessed this far with all of my experiences and opportunities. My management team is great and have lots planned.”

CS: Can you share a secret about you or the creative process for “Hometown Heart” that your followers and listeners would be surprised to hear?

E: “Well, my manager Cody has a salt gun he uses to entertain me in the recording booth to get my energy levels up when recording. On a serious note, I journal my thoughts which isn’t as easy as it sounds. Putting your personal thoughts out there to be shared, possibly to become lyrics in a song is really opening yourself up.”
