Peytan Porter Announces Grand Ole Opry Debut Date During First-Ever Headlining Show in Nashville

Country songstress Peytan Porter is one of Nashville’s newest up-and-coming artists that’s here to stay for a long time. The free-spirited songwriter played her very first headlining show at The Basement in Nashville on Wednesday (April 17) and there’s nothing that could have made us miss this special night.

Profound and vibrant, the songwriter opened up her first of two headlining shows — which she calls The Road To Grown — full of enthusiasm. Her lyricism is complimented by her vocal offering as she dove in to her well-crafted set of songs. She spoke of the town’s gossip in newest single “Lemonade” and encouraged the crowd to dance along.

Balancing her flower child persona while piercing through the soft spot of relationships, Peytan took us through the highs, the lows, the beautiful and the ugly of her story with elegance and excitement. She played a well-executed assemblage of her songs, including newer ones “Speaking of Georgia,” “High Road” and “Grown;” in which she shared something super special.

As she introduced “Grown,” the title track of her latest EP, Peytan addressed the crowd and exclaimed that she packed up her bags from Dawsonville, Georgia along with a car full of dreams to pursue a career as a recording artist. And while playing her first headlining tour was one of them, it wasn’t all of them. She confessed that one of her good friends and influences Ashley McBryde called her up and asked her to make her Grand Ole Opry debut May 10th, making another lifelong dream come to life.

“I might not get married, so this is my wedding day,” Peytan confessed through tears, ultimately sharing the sentimental moment on Instagram earlier today (April 18).

With her acoustic guitar in hand, Peytan expressed her love for Eric Church as she played a stripped down rendition of his hit song “Record Year.” She even brought up some close friends from back home, a band named Loula, to play a song they wrote together called “Other People.” Peytan blended up her song “Why We Broke Up” with Maggie Rogers’ “Light On” and it was everything we didn’t know that we needed to hear.

The 26-year-old closed out the show with fan-favorite “Therapy” off her record In My Head and a more recent single, “God’s Hotel.” She sang, “I was baptized by water because I was scared of the fire.”

We strongly recommend listen to Peytan’s music and attending a show of hers. As mentioned, Peytan is making her Opry debut on May 10th and she’s also opening up a few dates on Tim McGraw’s Standing Room Only Tour beginning in June.
