“Euphoria” Season 2, Episode 7 Recap – February 20, 2022

🚨 Spoiler Alert: Do NOT read if you have not watched the February 20th episode of Euphoria!🚨

Lexi’s long-awaited play has finally become reality on last night’s episode of Euphoriaand let’s just say it did not disappoint.

Fans have been dying for this episode because all season long, we knew Maude Apatow’s character Lexi has been quietly observing her friends for this play.

The play, titled “Our Life,” was exciting, sad, and funny, getting five stars from viewers.

The play opens with Lexi and Rue, Zendaya’s character, at her father’s funeral. Throughout the play, we got to see more of Lexi and Rue’s friendship which has drastically changed in the past couple of years due to Rue’s drug addiction. But the sweet moments they used to share, like grabbing ice cream and hanging out with Fez, makes the viewers miss the friendship they never got to really see.

Cassie wasn’t portrayed in the best light in the play. In the play, Cassie, who is Lexi’s sister, is seen as self-centered, snarky, always getting what she wants. The only sweet moment we get between the two is when we see them dancing with their parents before their divorce and before their dad left them. This is the only moment the audience feels for Cassie as we see her and her mom tearing up in the audience.

Viewers also had the opportunity to see more of Maddy and Cassie’s friendship in the play. At one point, Maddy had spent months at Cassie and Lexi’s house because her parents were fighting back at home. In this scene, Lexi and Maddy share a cute moment where Maddy is almost like a big sister to Lexi.

We feel for Maddy’s character when she gets in bed while Cassie who holds her while she cries. Almost ironically, it jumps to a flashback of reality where Maddy finds out about Cassie sleeping with her ex-boyfriend Nate. In a truly emotional moment, we see Maddy banging on the door as Cassie locks herself inside questioning and crying asking “Why she did this to her?” and saying, “She would have never done this to her.”

We go back to the play and see Cassie in the audience getting up and going to the bathroom as she cries at what she lost…her friendship with Maddy.

Throughout the play, we also get to see Fez getting ready for Lexi’s play. If you recall earlier in the season, Ashtray killed Mouse, who was someone Fez used to do business with. Now, Fez’s “friend,” Custer, is planning to throw him under the bus for what him and Ashtray did to Mouse. Unfortunately, the viewers never see what happens to Fez, but they do know he never showed up for Lexi’s play.

Now, if you think Nate would be off the hook for being called out in Lexi’s play, think again, because Lexi ended her play with a bang by calling out Nate. The final choreographed routine shows Ethan, who plays Nate’s character in the play, dancing sexually with his on-stage football friends.

Everybody at the school knows this is Nate and they start staring and laughing at him. Nate gets so angry that he leaves the gym and breaks up with Cassie as he storms off. That’s when we see Cassie in the window of the theater and suddenly the episode closes out with a “To Be Continued…”

Fans are now left to wonder what will happen on the finale of Euphoria that airs next Sunday.
