On June 5, 2022, Glen Powell and his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Jay Ellis handed Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney an award at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Now, just a few months later, Deadline is reporting that Powell and Sweeney will be starring alongside one another in an upcoming R-Rated rom-com directed by Will Gluck.
Sweeney is one of the most popular actresses on the planet, dating back to her rise to stardom in 2019 on season one of Euphoria. Other than being on both seasons of the HBO hit, Sweeney has joined the movie verse with a starring role in the upcoming Marvel flick Madame Web and now, of course, in this yet-to-be-named romantic comedy.
As for Powell, he had been on the rise for some time but ultimately made headlines with his role as Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick. Besides being in the sequel to the 1986 classic, Powell has experience in the rom-com world as he is known for being in Set It Up; the film is beloved by fans worldwide and stars rom-com queen Zoey Dutch.
As for the excitement of this yet-to-be-made movie, both Powell and Sweeney took to social media to express their excitement about the project.
All in all, this is set to be one of the most anticipated rom-coms in recent memory.
